Sometimes it pays to be diligent to find tax errors

Recommended Posts

Hello to anyone reading this...
I really didn't know where to post this because it's not really about metals, though it is about fiat currency that you use to buy metals.
The best "investment" is one where you are not losing currency/money.  Being overcharged is losing.

I was doing some accounting today. Basically building a record of what I have and how much it cost me.
Unfortunately, I live in one of the dreaded States that taxes precious metals.
As if that is not bad enough, APMEX has been adding insult to injury. I will be checking the rest of the dealers soon to see if they are accurate.
To give them the benefit of the doubt, I will let them slide and play ignorant for now.

For months I have been overcharged because they did not adjust their software to indicate the correct amount to be taxed.
Okay, maybe it is partially my fault for not catching it sooner, but I caught it now and I notified them.
Being one of the largest, if not the largest, online coin dealer, I guess I assumed that they were on top of things.

I wonder how they will handle this.  Will I get a thank you and/or an apology?
In the least I expect a full credit of my over-payment. I would settle for a 2019 Anne's Revenge 1 oz.

Anyway, my purpose for this rant is not for the sake of ranting, but that I encourage you to do some due diligence and make sure that you are not being overcharged as well.
Some of you are blessed to not even have to worry about it. Some of you are in even worse shape because your State/city basically dry fist you (sorry for the graphics).

Have a wonderful day and keep your wits about you.
