Real or fake????

It appears to have a lot of wear but I'm not sure if it's real or fake.

Asking on behalf of friend.

Unfortunately I can't do a specific gravity test at the moment and she doesn't have a weighing scales.

Looking forward to hearing your opinions

Cheers

Sd.

I've done a bit of comparing. it was the face portrait on the other side I was concerned about most. Details are not great, Just looks pretty worn to me.

The struck on the Obverse seems a bit weak, especially the beads around the edge of the coin.

Or it could just be a bad photo.

My 1975 kruggerand is more reddish in colour (I keep photos as a reminder the years I have)

Difficult to give a definitive answer without basic tests i.e. weight, dimensions, SG etc

The fakes can look convincing too !

Check the dimensions and weight are ok first.

Then flick it up in the air quite hard using your thumb and listen to the ringing sound it makes. Compare this to another Krugerrand or 22ct bullion coin. The Krugerrand ring is quite high pitch.

Looks good to me. Specific gravity test is what I would do. Also detail in tail and horns is there. Suggesting stamped not poured.  I think the biggest thing is the reviews and background on the supplier too. Hence the beauty of TSF. I was only let down by one sale that was not sent to me. He was a new seller, not really many reviews, took a punt, never worked out.

I guess we'll all have to wait to find out the result whether it is "Real or Fake" ???

It is the strike and colour that concerns me.

I got another old photo showing a difference in colour - Krugerrand Vs 2009 Kangaroo  (.999) Vs 2015 Britannia (.999) .  Do keep us posted.

Gold comes in many different colors depends on what metal content its mixed with.

I'm  more concerned with the strike.

Cheers for the photo.
