Hi everyone,

I brought a bullion 100g PAMP Susie foturne gold bar yesterday, i carried out all the tests that I know of including weight, measurements, density test and ultra sonic sound test.

I brought it from a local jewellery shop and it was not packaged, he gave me a receipt etc and he has been located there for many years.

However for the density I am getting 19.25 and the typical gold density is 19.32.

I used the veriscan app to scan the bar and for all dimensions it passed successfully.

The ultrasonic sound results were confusing for this item, the dimensions on the website are 47x27x4.30mm, however when i measured with my caliper i got 47.31x27.3x  4.05. When I would use the ultra sonic device i am getting 25.1mm for the width and 2.9-3.8mm for the dimension.

I used the same equipment to test silver and results were  close to accurate however I did purchase these from gold dealers and refinery directly. I am confused about if i should take this bar  and get my money back or keep it and hope it is genuine?

please advise?

There are places that will test your bar of gold for free.

thanks people, i have been discussing with family and we decided to take it to a few jewellery shops and say I want to sell it that way having them check it to see if it is genuine. I will take it to a pawn shop as well.

You could take it to one of them cash for gold stores that keep popping up. If they offer you £20 you know it's real.

On a serious note I am curious to the results of this too.
