Elton John coin

Recommended Posts

I really like this, you could take his name off and you’d instantly know who it’s about.

The factor for me will be how much they charge for the 2oz Silver and 1/4oz Gold proof. Hopefully it’s the same as the Queen coins.

Yeah I'll be surprised if they do a Beatles given the cost. It will be interesting to see who they do next.

I think we will see, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, The Rolling Stones or U2 next.

The Kinks and Status Quo 👍

I'll be disappointed if they forget Bowie

Isn't there a great British musician/composer like Mozart, Chopin, or Handel that can be featured on a coin who actually deserves to be there? I'll have to research that topic and get back to you! I believe the Mint may be trying to attract younger people to coin collecting so it doesn't die off completely and I can see the rational there. However a great institution like The Royal Mint shouldn't have to compromise like this.

Huuu! I like Elton John, but I'm not sure what to say about this coin design. I'll have a think about it.

I wonder if the Royal Mint has its eyes set on 'The Fab Four', the Beatles??? If they're thinking about it, my advice would be 'Handle with care!' 🙂

God I hope not. Hate the Beatles.

For me its not a wow, it has to be something I'd want to keep, so unfortunately I won't be getting this one, I'll stick with the queen.

Couldn't agree more.

Either they have improved their web service or there is not a huge demand leading upto this as there is none of that queuing system in place... im gonna guess the latter (oh, and its a no from me).

The One Ounce Silver Proof looks good in colour to me Coinsters !!

Not usually a fan of coloured coins, but that one does stand out a lot more than rest. Best of a bad bunch imo.

Less area to go spotty, good thinking! 😄👍 its also the only one that has “Elton John” letter around the edge.

1/4oz gold sold out...
