Not even good fake gold coins selling on ebay

Someone is going to be very disappointed shelling out money for these coins. They are not even good fakes, very very poor in my opinon,

And its shows, that just because someone has feedback in the tens of thousands it doesn't mean you are safe from fakes

You only have to check images of real coins to see how bad they are, even the out of focus pictures cant hide the fact that they are as dodgy as hell

Yes stating collection and inspection makes it look like he thinks everything is ok. I bid on his US coins but don't know anything about them so I don't know if they were real. Outbid in the last 2 secs anyway. Phew.

I only happened to notice them at end of the auction so thought it was worth a go judging by the fact he only wanted paypal and you could collect.

I can't really see what is dodgy as hell about the pics you posted apart from the fact the 20 francs looks to be a different version.  I'm not sure how many versions there even are of those but I know there are thin beard and rougher beard ones, different necks and text for a start.

Yes I was wondering about the variation aspect but know nothing about these coins. The colour looks strange to me but a weighing and measurement should ascertain whether they are gold or not.

I've been following the 20 Francs and 20 mark coins for quite a while now, and have probably seen several hundreds of pics online of various French, Belgium and German States gold coins. Mainly looking at French Belgium and German sites. I have even bought a few. (They can be bought at times closer to spot than sovs, hence the reason for my interest),

These coins had my alarm bells ringing big time, the colour is all wrong for these coins, (even with a dodgy photo), The positioning of the head v the inscription should be identical, especially on the 20 Francs, with the image I posted, and you can see, especially looking at the nose, it isn't

.................and the fact that these coins only just managed to hit spot price, makes me think i was right. The collectors of these coins have stayed away, and left it to the "stackers" who think they have a bargain.

Maybe they are genuine, maybe I'm wrong, but there are enough red flags to ensure I gave these a very wide berth....... :D

And i do have some similar coloured francs that i have bought from Baird's in the past, although they are cockerels in general iirc.

The dimensions, weight and density all seemed fine so I don't think Baird's has slipped me dodgy coins.
