Bullion test app

Has anyone got the app 'bullion test' on android? It tests coins for fakes using the ping test.

I just downloaded it and it actually works really well, you just have to select a coin, hold it above your phone and give it a ping and job done.

It doesn't have every coin yet but then again I've only downloaded the free version, there's also a generic coin feature which supports all 999 1oz coins, just add the diameter of your coin and the app will calculate it's resonance frequencies, clever stuff.

Would be interested to hear more about this App and if anyone has used it and if anyone has detected a fake yet.

I don't have an Android phone so cannot test and report results.

I would be apprehensive about the results this type of testing would give . For me there are too many variables in the type of equipment used, the quality of microphone would be my main concern then other things such as background noise, distance from equipment and how to hold test piece. Other variables such as design could have a bearing on test for generic 1oz pieces.

What permissions does this app request? As sceptical as I am about its accuracy, my thoughts turn to the designer having a more nefarious purpos, i.e.number of tests performed in specific location = pm stash...

I'll go join the conspiracy thread

I have never used it, but that's something I hadn't considered.

And I wouldn't put it past them......
