Can't afford them fancy tubes. Skint

Methinks that might be self-inflicted.  All that extravagant influencer lifestyle.

The Sovereign is the quintessentially British coin.  It has a German queen on the front, an Italian waiter on the back, and half of them were made in Australia.

The cigar box silver treasure chest coming along nicely. Little bits of poured silver added each month. Nice to have something to hand to look at as opposed the gold that’s vaulted and less accessible

@Goldfever20 is that presentation box is from the Royal Mint? 🤔… the box I have for mine came from  Belgium … before Brexit. Ugly brown box.

After my latest purchase I opened my small safe and struggled to fit it in, which resulted in me emptying it, and having a good old rummage.

I only keep silver at home, and most of it has a story, or is the stuff I couldnt/wouldn't sell. I sold about 100oz over the last year or so to help fund the recent plethora of 'special' sovereigns. So this is what's left - an eclectic mix of proofs and bullion, doesn't look like it but there's about 140oz in the picture, some of it from my early days in 2015/6, but most from the last 2-3 years.

All this for the same cost as about 8 tiny sovereigns - this is why silver is better!

…Except the sovs can all be sold in 10 mins and 90% of your money back… the silver will take time … and more time… and you may or may not get 80-90% your money back.

Though for touching/feeling your PMs … I agree! ;)

Nothing like a bit of silver between the finger tips! :)

@Silverman2U yes buddy it’s a RM box from The Queen’s Beasts 2021 UK Quarter-Ounce Silver Proof Ten-Coin Set. https://www.royalmint.com/our-coins/ranges/queens-beasts/queens-beasts-2021-quarter-ounce-silver-proof-ten-coin-set

I like this coin very much: the 2013 George and the Dragon £20. Half an ounce of .999 silver, 27mm diameter.

Basically a silver double sovereign, courtesy of @silvergaga

I had to give it a little bicarb foil bath, as it had heavy toning on the rim of the obverse, which I've noticed happens to quite a few of them in the OMP for some reason.

I like those coins. What's the best way to go about doing that?

Line a bowl with some kitchen foil, place the coin on it and cover it in some bicarb, then pour boiling water into the bowl and it will bubble up. Doesn't need long at all, the toning practically falls off
