German Silver

⚠️ Be careful when buying silver on eBay. Note that "German Silver" also known as "Nickel silver" among other names, does not contain any real silver! ⚠️

Since when would genuine German silver have 'German Silver' on it?

Junk.

Always cast your vote - Spoil your ballot slip. Put 'Spoilt Ballot - I do not consent.' These votes are counted. If you do not do this you are consenting to the tyranny. None of them are fit for purpose.
A tyranny relies on propaganda and force. Once the propaganda fails all that's left is force.

I've seen a lot of "German Silver" sold on Ebay in the past but it's almost always not specified as pure or fine 999  but this particular person is selling german silver quarter ounce bars for £22 a bar yeah that's right and with shipping works out to over £25 for a quarter ounce of "German Silver" and specifies them as being and I quote...

Minted by Valcambi Mint of Switzerland.

We buy only from our trusted European Bullion dealers. All our Bullion is therefore guaranteed completely genuine.

Our bulk-buying and sales strategy allow new investors to start up their own Bullion collection portfolio.

In times of uncertainty, Bullion is always the best commodity in which to invest.

- 1 x 7.77g German Eagle Silver .999 Investment-Ingot.

- 999.9 Pure Silver Bars

this seller has sold 22 of them and has 2 left and also has what appear to be many genuine coins for sale so I can understand why some people may fall victim of this; serves them right for not taking more care? Or Ebays responsibility to police this stuff better? Or both. And I am correct here right... theres no way this stuff is genuine? 😆

Please report it to eBay, hopefully they will remove it.

Would you spend £19.89 plus £2.45 on a 7.77g bar of silver anyway even if it was genuine silver?

Totally not silver. Avoid.

Why have we concluded this isn't silver out of interest? It's not being sold as 'German Silver'. It's been described as having a 'German Eagle' design.

It's stamped 999 silver and described as 999 silver. Of course it might be fake (so might anything), but short of testing it I'm not sure how you'd know. Am I missing something?

One things for sure either way - it's overpriced!

Not an excuse but sometimes people don't read the item description. From the photo above it suggests it's a silver bar. Why weigh it if the silver content is negligible?

Always read the description!

I "DELIBERATELY" bought this one from a local Facebook sale, last year for two reasons!

1) - to sit on my desk as a constant reminder - "CHECK FAKES"!!!!

2) - to take it out of circulation from a gullible buddy who was stung  - he paid £20 - I gave him a £5 ! (and free education - on what German Silver was and simple magnet test)

He was gobbsmacked when I showed him how magnet  works on "REAL 999 Silver"!

SO it grins at me ALL the time as a reminder of FAKES!
