Does anyone know anything about medals? or well I think this is a medal of some sort, never issued by the looks of it, Stunning toning and condition and the High relief is really nice, I thought id share this because I thought this really was a thing of beauty. it weighs 15 grams. Just picked it up today..But no nothing about it and google hasn't been very helpful.

have you any reason to believe it's silver? medals/medallions often have hallmarks or similar on the edge.

as you say, from the photos, if it's silver, it has nice toning, or as some would say, tarnishing! :D

Yep definitely silver, the hallmarks are on the back:) As far as I can tell Birmingham 1938/39 and made by Daniel George Collins of london.

Good idea Stackem , Could not find it there :( Always interested in price.

It cost me £6 so If I can flip it and get a couple of oz pure bullion I would probably go for it.

Will certainly be keeping my eye out for more, Some of the designs are really nice and lovely high relief detail. i think if this was a "coin" instead of a medal, without the pin it would be worth alot more than as it stands lol.

Cheers Hooky that's good to know:) still cant find out what it would have been presented for! maybe that was why it was so cheap lol.

Yes, this one will be going in the same file as Sham's ASE and serial number. Territorial what? Army? Police? fish mongers? Pity there is no recipients name on it.  Do you think it was issued as a pin or modified later?

may be worth sending a picture to Neddy Allen, the site looks as if it is still running but I'm not sure.
