Speculation on 2020 and 2021 Great Engravers Designs

Just checked the PCGS census and it looks like its an Alderney issue and not the Royal Mint.

These are all Alderney ones as far as I'm aware, not UK.

thanks guys @UnoWho & @silversurf - sorry my mistake.  im not huge on grading etc so when i saw the 'three graces' ive put two and two together

never realised Alderney was on the case for these

Maybe the Queen should cut back on her proclamations and put a stop to more than one Mint bringing out copycat coin designs. Alderney also had several versions of Una and the Lion, however their standard size Una stayed true to the 1839 Roman numerals design whereas the RM opted for 2019 Roman numerals.

Everyone seems to be cashing in on Una now. The East India Company issued a modern Una design bearing St Helena 2020 credentials. Not to my taste but others will like it.

And there’s a 2021 version. We have annual Britannia designs and St Helena appears to have annual Una’s.

I think thats the Alderney one? As they are releasing x1000 PR70s. Plus this is all PCGS. All Alderney mint I believe. 

I predict mintages will be the same and prices not that far off from the Una

Do you know which day and what time they release new coins? Do they have a similar pattern to the RM when releasing?

I’m not sure of the day sorry, but you can sign up for alerts on the website.

The reverse design will be identical to the Royal Mint issue, but the obverse will be a different portrait of the Queen for Alderney.

I messaged them this morning and they did tell me to sign up for the newsletter if I wanted to be informed of new releases.

I'm guessing that RM will be striking the Alderney ones. If the reverse design is exactly the same then that must have a downward push on all the prices. People might prefer an RM issued coin but how much more will they be prepared to pay?

Alderney coins used to be issued by the Royal Mint prior to 2017 but they’re now issued by the Commonwealth Mint and sold by a network of agents. That’s all I know.

It looks like you can buy direct from the Alderney treasury if everywhere else is sold out:-

I doubt that. You can send the Alderney Treasury a message but there’s no basket part to their website, plus the Commonwealth Mint only deal with trade enquiries. It seems to be a case of tracking down the agents. The most obvious one being the East India Company in my opinion.

When the RM bring out a new coin do the coin connection usually have them up at 9am to? Anyone know - i haven't used them before?

Normally yes. However, they may decide to hold them back until after RM sell out and then offer for a higher price.
