Heritage Auctions

Trying to get some info and insight from forum members (in UK) that have sucessfully won coins at an Heritage auction.

I'm thinking about bidding on a numismatic gold coin at the next Heritage auction. I just wanted to know what extra costs i should be factoring in apart from the bid and buyers premium. I'm guessing delivery and import tax? Its probably over 180% the gold content price, so is there VAT too?

If anybody has been through the process recently was it a smooth dealings?

Thanks

I purchased from them just before xmas and they charged me $71.60 for shipping / service for a single coin, if i remember correctly they used UPS on that occasion.

The coins i buy are always listed in section 3 of the HMRC notice so they are VAT / duty free, never purchased one where the 180% may apply.

Emailed them last week for confirmation of current availablitiy of shipping to the UK and they said no problem.

The transaction was straightforward, took about 10 days from the end of the auction to coin in the hand, that was with an immediate payment.
