No, sorry, you are mistaken. There is no weight and gold content difference to that of a "normal" full sovereign. Just that the shield sovereigns do not have the iconic St . George and the dragon depiction, they have the shield instead; hence their name. They also tend to be older sovereigns, as well as having the tendency to have higher premiums.  IMHO I generally prefer collecting them 👍
