which half sovereign next?

So, decided to collect all proof half sovs from 1980-today. So far I have an 86 and an 89. Any suggestions what should be next? Bit confused as to whether I should go for an 05 or 02 or 12 or just collect the normal looking ones first.

Suggestions and reasoning solicited and appreciated.

If you're going for a date run maybe just get them as deals/reasonable prices as they pop up.  I suppose the sooner you get the non G&D designs the better.

Yeah I think it's better to wait and let the deals unfold over time rather than chasing anything specific, that way you end up paying less, just takes longer.

There's no right answer other than what you want. Depends whether you're going for a full date run or just a type collection. Are you collecting with box and coa or any coin with or without?

If you're going for a full date run, buy as and when you see them, assuming you want them at a good price. if money no object buy what you want when you want it.

Certainly buy the 02, 05 and 12 when you can regardless.

Plan is to collect them Individually with box and coa, so I guess it might be best to get the special design ones first as they might go up in cost faster than the others?

I doubt it. The '89 has gone up more than the others but I think that's a special case. There's no shortage of the '02 and '12 but the '05 is perhaps one to look out for soon.

I would keep the money in reserve for the specials and go get the others PDQ. That's how i got my lunars.

 

Be ready to go at a moments notice other wise you could miss a great deal!
