Lots of useful information on sovereigns in the essential Spink catalogue. Also, current values.

Loads of Information at Chards;

These are pretty much all you need, more specialist information is generally the realm of the numismatic publications and articles.

It might have been this seller from whom a bunch of us here got the half Book from.

Couldn't find that version on Amazon but didn't want to link to Ebay listings as they won't be there long. This one seems to be ongoing though.

Great web site here. http://www.cruzis-coins.com/sovs/sov.html

Very simple bullet points and descriptions of every sov including pictures. As a quick reference I have yet to find better. Other sites will provide more all round info, but I like the simplicity and ease of this one! :)

Also includes mintages for all mints including Australia where applicable, for all sovs.

There are some good images here.

I like this '1839 'Una and the Lion' five pounds' at the top of this page.

The 1839 £5 is a fabulous coin and I would love one. I've never actually seen one but I have been told there are many fakes about, recent and perfect!

I think that a similar image wouldn't be out of place on a modern coin. Listen up Royal Mint.

well there was the 2001 Britannia
