2020 Gold Double Sovereign BU

Noticed that there is going to be a 2020 Gold Double Sovereign BU. To mark the 200th anniversary of the Sovereign coin's numismatic introduction in 1820, the Royal Mint has introduced a Double Sovereign as part of the 2020 Sovereign bullion range. This is the first time the Gold Double Sovereign has been included as part of the Sovereign bullion range, and is released to mark the 200th anniversary of the numismatic Double Sovereign coin's introduction in 1820.

@h103efa, any additional insights from the Gazette proclamations?

BBP are saying it should be in stock on Monday (6th January) - the price they are currently quoting is £643.50.

One side is shiny and they make less of them..

I think that is what differentiates me from the pure numismatics. I don’t really have a clue which coin is likely to appreciate above and beyond future spot price. So as long as it’s made of precious metal and is shiny I have to be content with that.

You seem to think that this double sovereign will be worth the extra premium as it will appreciate at a greater rate?

With any luck this won’t have a mint mark.

The BullionByPost description says "This year, the coin contains a George III mint mark on the obverse"

True...saw that. The APMEX description doesn’t note that, nor in their stock photo.

It will probably have the mint mark.
