I mean, we’ve been waiting for ages for this, the auction starts a bit late and then there is just absolute silence, inaction and *nothing*...then fair warning...then sold. It was a bit like paying £50 to watch boxing, getting involved in the build up and there being a knock out after fifteen seconds.

I’m not sure they should promote current bids pre live auction.

What do I know though! I think EBay is unexciting because bids always come in the last ten seconds......

It was surprising to see no action at all on the Una. Thought there'd be a few live bids. I watched most of the auction minus a half hour break for the afternoon dog walk. That is the first coin only auction I've watched and it was interesting to see the results - a lot of items sold for less than I'd of expected. I didn't spend a much as @Paul but bought a couple of Sovs I thought were well priced. Good bit of fun on a rainy Sunday afternoon.

Why would someone be willing to pay 27k for this? Just because it's low mintage? Madness.

If you only refer to the intrinsec value, you are right. Now imagine 500000$  for the original !...Why ? because of the mintage ?   It 's 27k because  there is more demand even at this price and we could argue about this for many collector coins.

It could be a bubble, but maybe not,  and for now the facts  behind these prices is history, beauty and  an iconic design.

I'm in the wrong business 🙄

Technically, alcohol is a solution..

'It [socialism] poses a growing threat, however unintentional, to the freedom of this country, for there is no freedom where the State totally controls the economy. Personal freedom and economic freedom are indivisible. You can’t have one without the other. You can’t lose one without losing the other.'

Let not England forget her precedence of teaching nations how to live.

So, the latest price to go on  is:

£27,000 plus shipping for the buyer

£24,570 for the seller less initial shipping to The Coin Cabinet

(graded commission is 9%, ungraded 10%) if sold through The Coin Cabinet.

Still nothing to complain about for the seller, that is £20,000 pure profit in a very short turnaround time for a brand new coin. Unheard of...
