Genuinely surprised and sorry to read this. I suppose this confirms what was speculated about in another thread yesterday - the mint will indeed resell rejected damaged coins. The more I come to understand how they operate the more I can understand why people pay the extra that somewhere like The Coin Connection charges. Very sad state of affairs.

In fairness the coin connection is generally cheaper if you pre-order or buy on release day. Especially if you use a code from Numi stackers YouTube channel.

Yeah that is a very good and true point. I have noticed a couple coins on there actually cheaper right at the time of release. I think if I decide to move forward with the rest of this series I may plan things better and try for that route.

cc are better the bet for ensuring the condition of the coin due to there quality control and yes cheaper to , if you get in early

i brought two silver ones , one from cc and one from the rm

i ordered the first one from rm then when i made the discussion to keep one and flip one , i brought the second one from cc just to be sure it was in tip top condition and i had one keeper at least

but luckily for me both arrived in perfect condition, and pleasing on the eye

Jesus christ! I know this isn't your auction but congratulations on having one, what a price!

How much bullion silver do you have to buy and sit on forever to get this kind of profit, and you've done it off a single gold proof coin at a high premium 😛

@Numistacker has one too right? congratulations gentleman

Looks like we have had another Gold Una & Lion sell on FleaBay £26,995 is now the going rate :)

Looking at the current live gold una on auction on ebay UK one of the bidders has feedback 4550 red star

https://www.ebay.co.uk/bfl/viewbids/223835561840?item=223835561840&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2565

the ones that sold on buiy it now £18k the other week & had feedback left for, was feedback 4550

https://feedback.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewFeedback2&userid=davidw9591&&_trksid=p2047675.l2560&rt=nc&iid=293393164065&sspagename=VIP%3Afeedback&ftab=FeedbackAsSeller

So someone is looking to be buying up these Gold Una's even at this massively inflated price above the RRP

Does he know something we dont know ? a royal mint mole or London Coin Company buying them back up to sell for $50k ? lol

I see the minimum price on Ebay since today for a silver Una is £350... it is increasing by the day, and the lowest priced ones are being snapped up very quickly... this coin is rapidly appreciating on the secondary market.

Remember the 2016 Peter Rabbit 50p silver proof.. it is now valued at £800 by Spink catalogue, and that's what they go for on Ebay, consistently. IMO this silver proof Una is a MUCH nicer and sought after coin than the Peter Rabbit 2016 50p.... so can we expect its value to eclipse the rabbit's £800 in the next few years?

Another thing in favour of this Una silver is that I very much doubt it is something that could come out annually, or with some variations. This must be strictly a one-off...

Makes me sad as I’m pretty sure the Royal Mint have issued a refund to my card for the damaged one I returned last week seeking a replacement 😫

There’s a negative invoice sitting in my account. After they promised to call as well and give me options, not a great first experience with them!!

The gold one that sold on ebay had lots of red flags.

It had three bidders on the first day of the auction all within a very short space of time of each other and one had zero feedback.....and it was this account that bidded 19k after the bid of 6k.

The bidding went something like this 5k, 6k,, 19k.....and so whilst it had 43 bids they were nearly all automatic ones stemming from the account with zero feedback.

Usual red flags...zero feedback account involved, lots of automatic bids from one account, bidding activity all within a short space of time from a small number of accounts and then none...

Because most of the auction looks to be fabricated by shill bidding id not trust the selling price on that one.

Well, this is certainly not the only one that sold for a high price....shill or not, this is what these very scarce and much sought after coins are going for at the moment -- it is within the ballpark of other sales. I know it may appear impossible, but there are many people with a good amount of cash who would go to great lengths to bag one of these. And let us remember that even £20k is still only a fraction of what the original goes for...which is actually more abundant in number than this restrike. I think there were 400 of those, as opposed to the 225 of the restrike.

I have seen that video on youtube. What do you think ?

The winning bid on this last one was the same buyer as a previous ebay luna of £20000 which is strange.

It could be one buyer deciding to buy these coins or taking into account the suspicious ebay activity its possible  a few owners have made an agreement to work together to pump the price.

Yup fishier than a Trawlermans Lobster pot that auction last night, when you look int  the bids.  That user of feedback 4550 is either trying to corner the market buying any up or is totally in on it.

The analysis on the video above breaks it down well, but he seems to have an axe to grind with our Numistacker :(

So if we are to 'assume' these ebay listings have all been shill bidded, pumped up

That makes a grand total of ZERO genuine Gold Una & Lion that have been listed for listed to ebay for genuine flipping/profiteering.  So even if these mega high artifical values are visible for all the world to see, the holders of Gold Una & Lion are STILL holding onto them

If that is the case, then it would mean the genuine gold Una and the Lion is worth MORE than the 20-odd thousand pounds... wow. And that there is literally no way to get hold of one on the secondary market yet. Priceless.

Who knows where the bar should be set, if all 220 wish to stay in collections and none come to market what is its value at melt it will always be worth spot, the RRP of £3995, approx £20k based on eBay sales, £200k the value of the original or £400k as there is half the mintage of the original. I think it will settle somewhere in between spot and £400k lol
