Jeez, +£12k profit in a month not to be sniffed at

Think I'm just gonna be sitting on this, ive no urge to sell yet @sovereignsteve either gonna be best decision or worst decision ive made. Maybe i should do coin flip Heads or Lions

mmmm as you say, £12k - 14k profit is a temptation.

IMO there is a good chance this is as good as it will get for a long time.

Long term it will probably exceed this but I can see the price dropping after the initial surge as the few collectors prepared to pay £18k -20k are satisfied.

Absolutely, this is a cracking profit to be had off one coin, it would be my best profit to date on anything ive bought or sold over the years wheeling and dealing all manner of items

How high can it go? I don't know? is it really worth £18k? i don't know.  Has this guy over paid buying it? or got him a bargain that will be a lot higher in years to come if next to none come to market?

All is supply vs demand

A nice £12-£14k profit would certainly add a nice few extra 10-11oz gold for FREE to the stack average

To be totally fair, i still don't think eBay is best yardstick for value, it will be the first few that sell through the traditional Big Boy specialist coin auctions , where the benchmark level is set via the hammer price.  The historical records of price and will not disappear to be forgotten like eBay completed sales results disappear after a few months.

The guide price/estimate will be helped by what known eBay sales have been for thus far.  I dont think Mr Fat Cat City Millionaire Financier Coin Collector is sat on eBay in his boxers on Boxing Day looking to save £1k on the cheapest Gold Una

I would also feel a little daunted selling such a valuable item through eBay auction, given its open to exploitation by one sided buyer listing policies.  It would have to be a cash deal in person

Hammer price plus buyer's premium, amount to seller hammer price minus seller fees.

Example

Baldwins: Hammer price £10k, seller receives £10k, buyer pays £12.4k (assuming they still offer zero seller fees for coins with hammer above £1k)

Coin Cabinet; Hammer price £12.4k, buyer pays £12.4k, seller receives £11.16k

I've changed my mind @Paul 😁

I'd now sell it. Let's say you gain 12-14k profit..

You're an entrepreneur/businessman I guess? That's a lot of working capital.

What could you turn 12k into over the space of a year? A successful man could do very well. Real profits, not speculation eh?

IMHO 😊

Exactly. There was a common scam a few years ago where someone paid through PayPal and arranged to collect, someone turned up but ten minutes later the 'real' buyer arrived and then claimed a PayPal refund. 100% has to be cash on collection.

Thanks for the input @Roy  my gut still says just to hold it and see what happens.  Time will tell, I will still be following Gold Una and how sales go in the secondary market

See where this live .co.uk auction ends at in a few days. See how equal to the £18k sale of today has been

my friend would like to return his silver una because it was defective ,he contacted the royal mint and they accepted to replace it .But he is living in italy , and the italian post refused to return it because its prohibited to ship coin in accordance to their policies . Any ideas how he can send it back would be highly appreciated .thanks

Hmm that’s interesting. I am in Australia so have no clue about this. But is it the “national post” that refuses, or also private courier companies? Seems strange that you can’t ship coins out at all.

I was told the exact same thing by my local post office in here in the states. I had a coin ready to ship back to The Royal Mint and they told me that I could spend the money to send it only to have it be returned to me because of some regulation that prohibits shipping silver, gold and platinum coins to the entire U.K. Needless to say I am at a loss for words as to why they don't allow it and it has changed the way I will order in the future.

To be honest, I'd put the problem directly to the Royal Mint. If they sell to your location, they need to accept returns from your location when the item is defective.

Ask them what shipping service they would like you to use to return to them and ensure they are comfortable covering the cost and any risk of loss in transit. In any event make sure you get proof of postage.

If you pick the 'right' coins you should get this feeling to some extent whatever they are (excluding bullion, but even so not always) imho.

Get a nice warm secure feeling ive done the right thing. But this gold una did something different, its not just gold

I am sure it's an absolute knockout but imvho you haven't bought the correct kind of coins (for your own taste!) if this is the first time!

:)
