2020 Una and the Lion

if you have no sentimental attachment to Una  - take your profits.  milk spotting can happen at any time in a silver coins life

park your profits towards a 1oz gold coin you can cuddle & fondle and leave under your pillow :)  gold can be under the sea for 500 years and wont have milk spots upon surface

Did you shift the gold one yet? Think of that tube of gold Brits you could have under your pillow 😄

Thanks guys, I have thought about selling and buying a shiny  Gold coin to replace it....something to keep me warm at night!

My luck was in big time I have a PF 70, I've not seen another for sale recently so struggling with a price? Hmmmmm?

Is coin cabinet better than eBay?

I'd probably stick it on Coin Cabinet if it was me. Recent one went for £1,150, so they seem to go for around double the price of a 69!

Hello

I would definitely go for coin cabinet.

they are specialist and you will avoid any trouble.

The last auction had a 70 on the coin cabinet. I see them nearly every time... and they fetch above the 1000 mark.

Does eBay often have issues when selling coins or do you mean fraudsters? Cheers

You don’t get a lot of issues with eBay transactions.
BUT should you have one, eBay will mostly take the buyers side of not always.

cost should be around the same I suppose.

with ebay. the risk for issues and charebacks are ALWAYS there is you a re seller.

You can actually end up having a double whammy, where you can lose not just your item you have sent, but the funds are also refunded to your dodgy buyer

It is an automated process that makes the decisions and is expolited by unscrupulous people out there.

Not saying that it WILL happen, it might only be one in 1000 transactions but it COULD happen

In the two auctions from coin cabinet, the first PF70 sold for £1,100, and the second one for £1,150.

I also have a PF70. I'm not selling it. It's incredibly beautiful and I'll take my risks.

Wait for £1 on eBay, but on for £1500.   See how it goes.   If no takers go coin cabinet.   I didn’t go for the Una because was worried about a great coin spotting.   If I was holding a pf70 I’d be selling because one spot could knock £600 off.    And being royal mint it probably will arrive sooner or later

On the other hand... there's only so many PF70s. If a certain percentage of them become ruined, it will only increase the value and rarity of the unblemished ones...

If a coin is going to get spotted, it will do so sooner rather than later. And if a graded one has remained unspoiled for a number of years, chances are good it will remain fine. This doesn't happen to 100% of coins.

It's crazy! Untill I started collecting coins I had never heard of this before........ I'm looking at gold proof coins that I could swap/buy instead.

You have made a very good point though thanks

I don’t see why the royal mint have gone down the route of 999 silver.     If they went back to sterling they wouldn’t spot and would be harder and not mark so easily.    All they would have to do is buy different blanks

I agree. I have a 1995 Wyon Medal that is sterling and it is absolutely beautiful. It's like it was minted yesterday.

To keep things updated about the gold Una, I have found only one gold coin for sale in Japan (COA 103) for 9900000Yen, around  £ 75000 !  Nice price ! :)

Damn I wish I had had the money to buy 3 of these. I’d be sitting on a gold mine right now. 😝

I guess as Tolkien says of the Dwarven Ring of Power... “It takes gold to breed gold”. 😇

Yep indeed. Although the silver one is also doing really well, proportionately. A PF70 silver proof sold on Ebay a few days ago for £1,275. We will see this weekend what the single PF70 silver does on the Coin Cabinet auction...

Lets hope these exponential % rises in the silver 2oz proof spread over into the gold proof to :)

that have disappeared off the face of the earth ! none coming out of the woodwork for the flipping/profit taking

Yeah I think a large proportion of the owners of the gold Una want to keep it long-term. Maybe no flippers anymore. It's a small mintage.

I don't know where the market for Gold Unas is, and only auctions give us a clue. The price asked by this Japanese dealer is very interesting, but this is the buyers who will make the price. £ 75,000 is just wishful thinking at the moment. But at these levels, there are certainly flippers who would be motivated to arbitrate their Gold Una for +50 ounce of gold.
Of course, if demand remains strong and the Unas remain in strong collectors hands, then we could witness even more amazing prices in the future.

The second in the serie could even boosts the prices of these Unas, both gold and silver. (Think that 3000 mintage is low for such a classic design, and moreover with a lot of defective coins, this could strongly increase their desirability) . In my opinion, unlike other series, whatever the quality or the interest for the second design to come will be, the Una is a design so powerful that it will shine on its own.
