Kookaburra 20th Anniversary Set - Silver

Hi all,

I need your opinion on a deal I might be putting together, to see what you think.

I have always fancied this set, 20 kooks, 1990 through 2009 all dated 2009.

I have found somebody with 18 of the coins (so two missing), and he wants £350 for the lot. No box, just the coins in capsules - works to £19.45 per coin.

Weighton Coins have the un-boxed set for £775, but will sell singles for £38.95 each so I could complete the full set for £430 ish.

I doubt I'll ever get hold of an original box, but I thought that about the Sydney Olympic set too and managed to get one of those.

I guess I could always just get a generic wooden 20 coin box.

I have the full 1oz kookaburra date run, and think this would compliment it nicely.

Thoughts?

Hi HT, I did see that but it's not the original box, just an aftermarket jobbie.

I agree that would certainly be the next best alternative though.

Thanks buddy

Didn't realise it wasn't an original. But I'll keep my eye open when I do my trawls................. :)

Cheers HT, appreciate that.

I believe the original box was piano black but not certain.

It may be worth giving the Dorset coin company a message, they had four sets of the 2009 anniversary sets that they were selling individually, maybe they still have the original box's?  Also they still have some up on ebay for around £30 delivered so you may get lucky with the coins that're missing.

As you may remember I got myself the 2008 coin of the anniversary set and did think about getting the rest but to be honest I think I'd prefer to get myself an original date run, but £350 seems like a great price.

You know it's only 4 and a bit years and they will be doing the 30th anniversary boxed set! Now THAT will be a site to behold. I am almost rempted to start saving up for it already! lol
