Well ups has once again proved they are the most redundant courier service known to man.been waiting everyday this week for a order from stg just to be told they now have no idea where package is.they tell me that I am the one who has to contact stg shipper and ask them to contact ups so that ups can start an investigation even tho the package is lost at the ups depot! madness.what a shower of c**ts.any of you guys n gals know if stg is open on weekends so I can phone them?any advice would be much appreciated

No idea is anyone is available at the weekend but don't worry about it.  It's fully insured so you won't lose out.

UPS are correct though as the contract is with STG.

Where did the last scan show it was located?  I never believe that packages are "lost".  99% of the time it's someone's sticky fingers.

hi morezone I'm not worried on losing out but I also think it's a case of sticky fingers.it was scanned in edinburgh on the 6th and showed to be in transit for delivery on Monday but no show all week.I'm only 10 miles from depot!! haha.just the thought of someone with silver makes lil upset.on the plus side I get use stg's customer service for the first time wich iv heard through this forum as s first class

silver mack, join the club. It's a very exclusive club at the moment as I'm the only member. To be accepted I need further proof that your coins have been nicked.

You need to make more fruitless phone calls and emails and then wait weeks on end before you get a replacement order sent to your door. Only then can you join this exclusive club.

Well that story sure makes me think twice about putting  a big  order through stg if the c u next Tuesdays at ups are nicking silver. If Livia from stg happens to read this thread she needs to inform the boss to change to a different company, and ups need to cut the f..kings hands of the thieving c u next Tuesday . So Livia this will not be good for business because i'm thinking is it worth the risk for me to spend a few thousand with your company, only to have my silver nicked.

Seems a tad extreme given that your order would be fully insured, and STG have the better customer service of all the German silver suppliers that I know of.  Stuff gets lost / stolen / misappropriated all the time - no need to start mouthing off at the seller for the courier's mistake...

Forum members have placed hundreds of orders with STG, and as far as I can see only one order has gone astray.....I see no need for STG to change anything. Cointreau's story is about another company not STG.

Come the new year when I place my next order I will be buying from STG without any hesitation

Yes me too, I have never had any issues with them, and even if I did it would be annoying that it did not turn up but as you state they are insured so you will get it, but after a short delay.

So my order is with STG.

yeah i agree with most comments made stg silver 99% of the time it will arrive, It just really winds me up when things do not go to plan. I am the worlds worst for waiting for the post man to deliver my goods,i know i will make that order with stg and it wont be a small order,Just hoping for that fall in price again to the £9-£10 mark if it ever does that is.

No but can understand the mans concern, i wouldn't want to be making orders and spending large amounts with a company lashing orders!

I know silver to go is this sites official sponsor but that dosent mean you have to ALWAYS defend them to the back bone and make out everythings perfect about them.

When stories are spoken about like this on here...anyone placing large orders have the right to be concerned!!

the fella is hardly mouthing off at the seller aswell!

Think i might swerve STG if things like this is going on.

I WOULDN'T WANT TO BE WAITING WEEKS FOR A REPLACEMENT ORDER EITHER!

I completely agree Dean. Site sponsor or not, it does not preclude them from getting adverse reviews.

But you do have to bear in mind their past exemplary performance, and the time of year.

The problem here is obviously with the courier, which is international, and not a cheap operator. So I am bemused as to why we are discussing the supplier.

The other case involving DHL (Cointreau & Lea?) does appear to be more a case of the supplier being economical with the truth about stock levels and delivery time.

For the record, it is 5 out of 5 for me from STG, and I will continue to use.

I am also happy to recommend Atkinson's, Bairds, HGM and Bullion Rock. Of course all recommendations are always subject to change if service drops  :).

I was unlucky once with FedEx...another international operator. Fault of courier, not supplier. No doubt I will be unlucky again in the future.

Currently stacking 1/4 oz (22ct) and Sovs.

So a courier fecks up one order out of hundreds for STG and you might "swerve" them because of it. Well in that case it looks like you won't be buying any PM's from any company any time in the future because EVERY company in EVERY country will have packages that go astray from time to time.

If you want a company to use a perfect delivery company then I'm afraid you are out of luck ...............................there isn't one.

ps. I will repeat this again for people who havn't quite grasped the facts. The story about a delivery going missing for weeks and then taking even more weeks for a replacement order to arrive is NOT STG. It is another German company whose business model, as far as we can gather, relies on sourcing coins AFTER it receives orders. Not one that has stock at hand like STG. Don't blame one company for another's failings.

I'm with th op here, ish. It's so frustrating when something goes missing and you have paid a lot of money, it's not stg's fault and they will sort out but it's easier to vent anger ant them than ups because they won't listen. Liva will hopefully sort out and will be done and dusted in new year.

Yes indeed, my order was not with STG. I actually recommended to EMB that they use UPS in future. Hmmmm.

But, as has been previously mentioned, there will be thieves in all of the major courier companies.

These missing parcels end up on the wrong delivery truck/van by design. It's likely a loader and a driver will be working in concert.

That's how it works. Maybe these courier companies should do random checks on their employees to keep them honest.

I've worked for a big parcel firm and believe it or not , not everyone is on the rob. What you have to remember is at this time of year these companies take on a lot of temps who with very little training and no real care for the job as they know they are only there for a couple of weeks are expected to do the job at the busiest time of the year , with the sheer amount of parcels you are dealing with its very easy for a parcel to end up genuinely getting lost one way or another.

See, this is one thing I just don't understand.

How can a parcel get "lost"? It must be somewhere, even if it's dropped off the conveyor belt or whatever, it still exists.

I have dealt with UPS not too often, but the one time I did need to ring their customer service as the parcel hadn't arrived on the date their system advised it would they had no idea where it was either - after a second call it turned out it still hadn't arrived in the country when their system advised it had already arrived at their distribution centre - so I wouldn't be at all surprised if their system is just wrong and it turns up late in the end. In addition to that it's not unusual for parcels to go missing and get delayed at this time of year due to strains on the capacity of many courier's networks, I personally won't be placing any orders to STG until after Christmas.

Posted

Yeah it still exists , but if someone has stuck the wrong barcode on it or that label has fallen off it can be very difficult to sort out , also the firm I worked for only seemed to care about getting parcels out the door . If something gets returned to the warehouse it might sit there for weeks or even months before someone gets round to looking at it.

I'm not saying this is right , its just the way it is in these firms. If you've got twenty lorry loads of parcels to get sorted and loaded onto vans you just don't have the time to spend a hour trying to sort out the error on one parcel

When I was in business I shipped many thousands of parcels with UPS and DHL.

Never had a single shipment lost.

Value of some shipments was significant but the contents less interesting to the handlers.

If a package has gone missing there will be a trace to the last person or vehicle so I would think it unlikely an employee would risk their job to steal a few dubloons. However, that wouldn't be true if the worker was a temp.

The last time I checked, DHL will not compensate loss of PMs or coins, so best not to use them.

However, Aurinum ship DHL so I assume they have separate insurance covering loss or theft.

Hope your package turns up.

Yes, if STG is using a courier company that is lashing parcels, i will give them a SWERVE! , I'v seen other things and people complaining about UPS people not recieving things & UPS cocking up.

DONT BE SO QUICK TO KEEP DEFENDING SILVER TO GO!

lucky i haven't seemed to come across any of these LOADS of missing parcels from other companys your talking about then isn't it!
