If you ask me this is a bunch of cowboys.

Is that the forum 'swear' filter kicking in again? I'm never sure as personally I reckon it's a crock of horse 'terrible'. I hear worse language than that when I pick the kids up from kindergarten (and that's from them!).

If you can't steal from the people who trust you the most, who can you steal from 😤

🤣

Behind the laughs though lays a bit of a cautionary tale here. I had a relative who it could be argued (and it was) was fully aware/of sound enough mind to 'trick' the docs into thinking he was fit to refuse a brain scan (he was a clever chap - and of course decent people who really cared would never force them into it). It was only me who realised he wasn't (himself), having known him all my life. Legally he only got the 'official' dementia diagnosis that kicked my Power of Attorney into play a few weeks before he passed away, and before that (and after in fact) people were stealing from him (carers, supposed 'friends'/'kindly neighbours'). A long story but his and his late wife's wedding rings, for example, were only 'suddenly found down the back of a sofa' once I was going to bring the police in.

It also happens with families where someone thinks they are more entitled than anyone else for whatever reason, despite the intentions of the person when they made their Will and later fall vulnerable - seen that too.

Where there's a will there's a relative...guaranteed.

In the legal profession I believe it's commonly known as 'where there's a Will there's a claim' and that's certainly my experience. The 'friends' and 'carers' stealing stuff from the house when legally he was blissfully unaware (shall we kindly say) or even after he passed was different though - no concrete proof, no comeback.

Number one priority in this day and age with such evil and unaccountable folk about is prepare for the worst and keep 100% trusted friends and family around at all times. Also, have Power of Attorney documents in place many, many years before you might need them, because otherwise the Courts step in and won't necessarily do what's best for your relative (and will take control of the $ too, almost certainly what they are more interested in). Experience again.

Sorry for going off-topic, but it came up.

So has anyone had several orders at the £224 price and has then bought at their £249 price?do orders get cancelled still? Thinking of trying to order 3 at 249 😂

They said no. Unless its a new account, diff address it wont go through - they are now manually checking all orders against address and card details.

I see they've now put their sovereign price up to £299 ...

Something else... they today advertised a "quarted laurel" gold coin from Tristan da Cunha... which is 2g gold (22ct), same as a quarter sovereign. It is a proof, and the price for it only £89. Sounds like a good deal? The coin isn't really my cup of tea, but maybe someone else might want to take a look at that. I think the price was previously £189 on their site.. now it's £100 lower. Proof quarter sovs on the Royal  Mint site go for £150 I think...

It’s a TDC quarter no real resale market. RM quarters are legal UK currency and tax exempt and big collectors market. The TDC has none of that going for it.

I've read the other discussion, I made this post before that thread was created :)

Some good prices on thegoldsovereign.  Have you used them before? It shows paypal as payment so i’m guessing it will include 4% fee?

@ilovesilverireallydo, off topic but is there really a big collectors market?

Any info would be appreciated, I have a 'vested' interest 😉

Technically, alcohol is a solution..

'It [socialism] poses a growing threat, however unintentional, to the freedom of this country, for there is no freedom where the State totally controls the economy. Personal freedom and economic freedom are indivisible. You can’t have one without the other. You can’t lose one without losing the other.'

Let not England forget her precedence of teaching nations how to live.

I would say a decent size. definitely higher %ge over spot than sovs and half sovs. Depends on year and type - proofs go for higher  - especially for people trying to complete year sets. See some as high as £150 - but average £90-100 at todays spot. So would like to  point out that I have never seen one actually exceed the mints original issue prices - which tend to be high. always better to buy them off the secondary market. Personally I wouldnt go after them unless they are a low % overs pot
