Just checked my rota and if I stay on my current rotation I am off, so there is a fair chance I will go over there with the wife for a few days.

But that may change

Wonder if the RCM will be selling a privy mark silver maple to mark the event?

Just done some checks on flights and hotel prices and can get there with Flight and Hotel for under £400 (4 nights), but do I go or spend the money on some PM's

I have never been to Germany so the trip should be good.

And maybe just maybe I can grab a bargain at he fair.

Been to Berlin a couple of times over the years and always had a good time

It been about 4 years since i was there but this place was great and suitably central for everything and train from the airport

If your taking the Mrs she would be suitably impressed without breaking the bank either.

I think you have a chance to pick up some choice pieces there, i remember seeing on Chards newsletter last year pictures of their stand and it looks like there were plenty of dealers around and about it is not just RCM, Perth Mint, Royal Maint, Degussa etc expo to show off their fancy cooperate stands

I would look as it as a nice break away with the benefit of coin event going on.

Of course take yourself a few groat (£) with you, it would be rude not to by a few gold/silver mementos from the coin fair

Also you'll probably get a chance to buy choice items that may not be seen every day offered for sale via eBay/forums

German coin dealers always seem to carry choice items in their inventories

Went to the 2010 incarnation of this event and was a little disappointed from the perspective of picking up a couple of bargains. At the end of the day this is a trade show, and it is just as much about networking for dealers as it was for the general public.

Thus there is significant focus on future bulk sales as there is for over the counter sales on the day and which were no cheaper than what you could buy through normal retail channels. If memory serves Perth Mint done a special blister pack of Kooks or such like and as stated above there was the obligatory offering from the PRC Mint in the form a special Panda. ( I think???)  Besides this there was a lot of circulation/limited addition type coins from one or other of the German mints

I think my judgement on the day was also a little clouded by the fact that I took the wife who has zero interest in coins and who persistently kept pointing out that the majority in attendance could be confused for train spotters!  :D ( that's nice init!!!!)

On the same trip we also took in Copenhagen, and if you are ever in this fair city you must go and see the royal coin collection.

As their blurb states, it has got to be one of the best collections in the world
