Nazi gold to be found in Poland???

We have been here before but, there is still a lot of treasure that remains lost, or at least only one or two people know it’s location. Probably most likely that lots of it is in Swiss vaults and will never see the light of day again.

Not gold but cast your minds back to 2013 when 1400 works of art were uncovered in a Munich flat. Estimated value was about 1.3 Billion Dollars....

Equally, I heard from my grandfather that one of his friends got rich after WW2 because he was the only person who knew where a large resovir of petrol was located.  It was strictly a secret to be used if troops had to pull back from a particular location. He apparently sold the lot!

The entire Russian Amber Room is still missing post the Nazis shipping it somewhere so I wouldn’t be surprised if there are gold and other historic artefacts hidden all over the world post WW2.

I watched a documentary probably 12 months ago which indicated that Germany was using the likes of Spain and Portugal as neutral countries to refine their precious metals and then using it to fund their war efforts. So suspect loads of stolen metals met this fate.

Also endless stories of military personnel using some of these goods as retirement plans or collecting them as souvenirs; this may have been the ultimate fate of the Honjo Masamune for example. Or even recently the recent find in Germany of a Nazi decedent who died a few years back and they found his house full of works of art that he knew were stolen during the war.

I do wonder how much stuff has been found and not declared, hidden away or sold on a secondary market

They know the ware abouts of several cashes of nazi treasure the issue they have is the cashes were rigged with serious explosives and most is from the concentration camps ie death gold they don't want to touch it for fear of law suits ironically their more scared of getting sued than the traps that were set to stop the pms from landing in allied hands there is also rumours of a gold lorry convoy driving along the feords in Sweden and simply vanished

It’s in Swiss bank accounts. That’s where all the gold is.

Probably. Swiss safe deposits etc.

There was a good documentary series about WW2 hidden gold in Indonesia (I think it was). They found booby traps, maps, symbols cut into the stone matching the map etc. Then there was the hunting Hitler documentary series where Nazi bases were found in various South American countries. Ex CIA and FBI were involved in the search. The Nazis continued their nuclear power research  on their own island and was protected by the president in one such country, can’t remember which.

A lot still to be found I feel. Maybe they will leave it for another 25 years???

I think the documentary was about gold hidden near Astoria, Oregon, not Indonesia. Some kids found it in the 80s IIRC.

Different series, there are quite a few on History and Discovery. This was Stolen Japanese hidden Gold & “treasure” in the Phillipines. I didn’t catch the while series.

Another one was a team of gold hunters in South America looking for the Jesuit good/treasure. I think the end of the last series the found a tunnel at the top of a mountain with a flat top and a huge stone. At the end of the tunnel the found a bricked up stone wall. They went through that and found a flooded area, a few spare coins and then a very very deep underwater drop 200ft. They think the treasure is at the bottom of this drop. They needed to wait for next season and required cold water diving equipment etc.

Also there is Oak Island in Nova Scotia. Ongoing for years.

Love a good treasure hunting documentary.

Yamashita's Treasure.

Technically, alcohol is a solution..

'It [socialism] poses a growing threat, however unintentional, to the freedom of this country, for there is no freedom where the State totally controls the economy. Personal freedom and economic freedom are indivisible. You can’t have one without the other. You can’t lose one without losing the other.'

Let not England forget her precedence of teaching nations how to live.

Sorry Roy. It’s just gone 7am, my backs killing me and my 3 year old was jumping all over me at the time. I’m surprised I even managed a capital P 😆
