to grade or not to grade?

I have recently got a 5 sovereign proof set, 2011 the year has a meaning for myself thats why I got it. What I am wondering tho is it worth getting it graded and slabbed? If it gets a decent grading will it add value? if so what would I expect the added value to be (I know this is depended on different things but just a ball park figure). Not been stacking that long in the grand scheme of things so still learning. Any advice would be appriciated. I will include some pics maybe not the greatest can always try and get more. Thanks in advance.

does grading it give it more meaning, the same meaning, or

less meaning?

It would still have the same meaning but if I ever had to sell if grading would give me a better return then it would be worth getting it graded then.

If you keep the coins well (basic common sense) they shouldn't get any better grade now than in the future...unless you think you might have to sell in a hurry and it would add value I wouldn't bother myself.

Looking forward to seeing what others say about the value-added (or not) aspect :)

Soon all coins will be graded which will make yours a rare set. 😁

I think theres enough graded coins out there tbh but they are your coins.

As for making money, if they graded 70 then yes. Anything other than that I dont think it will add any value. I think they look nice as they are in the case.

Leaving the 5 coins as it is, holds the belief they  are as good as what is expected to be produce by the royal mint. With a discerning eye able to verify its excellent condition equivalent to a grade, slabbing is not required.

Grading the 5 coins will either result getting the same grade or a mix grade, value added on investment is dependent on grade type documented.

Following with maintaining and protecting the raw or slab form from external interactions resulting in a deterioration from its original state.

Hope that helps.

A 70 grade on the quintuple sovereign and sovereign will definitely add value; a 69 will probably cover the cost.

You will get a better price if you break up the set and sell individually if it comes to it and graded coins (even 69s) may sell easier.

The coins can haze over time and you might want to lock in the possible 70 grade on the 5 and 1 Sovereign to avoid conservation fees in the future.

P.S.: nice set!

If the year has meaning for you, why even entertain the thought/possibility of selling it? Personally, I would leave it as is (in OMP), the same way I acquired it.

It has meaning but we never can fully prepare for what may happen so as always prepare for the worst and hope for the best.  :)
