How odd. Confusing why they have a different price and listing for tubes of 25 then?

More importantly, how did you get on reporting Bairds to the trading standards.

We'll know if it's a waste of time after they finish their investigation. I'm sure nobody expects Trading Standards to be done in one day even in normal circumstances.

I know! It’s going to be days of work before they throw it out. There are hundreds of companies that add VAT later in checkout. It’s no big deal.

It is a bit misleading, why companies dont just stick to the norm, I dont know.

It is when they don't even mention it's ex. VAT and then don't add it until after clicking through three further pages involving entering your full personal details.

And in general companies should be encouraged to follow consumer protection law as too many always try their best to get one over their customers.

They use a loophole by phrasing it like this:

"As with silver, VAT on platinum, palladium and rhodium is only charged upon taking delivery of your order. If you store your purchase with us, you will not be charged VAT unless delivery takes place."

VAT only gets added once you decide to take delivery instead of storage during the order phase.

Baird and co is one of the largest pm refiners in the country with a turnover of over £1bn if memory serves me right.    A lot of big business gives prices ex vat.   I’m surprised the actually deal with the general public because it must be a small part of their turnover

Fair enough

To be precise not a lot of big business give prices ex vat. B2B businesses give prices ex vat as is entirely logical and sensible and legal.

B2C businesses never do because it's misleading and illegal for obvious reasons. The issue is with the B2C arm of Baird's. Its well known to be a huge company which makes it even more surprising they are trying this cheap trick rather than being up front.

Most stuff I buy for my business will be ev vat so that’s what I’m used to.     Did you take it up with bairds and ask them why they do it like this?

During the Bairds order process VAT only gets added once you decide to take delivery instead of storage.

I didn’t realise that, but just looked and it states...

before you put in email address before you purchase.     To be fair it’s not over clear but the site is 15 years out of date all over

Just out of interest if you store your metals at the royal mint do you pay vat on original price when it's delivered or is it vat on the current price of the metals?

Cheers

I thought this was a bit of a deal considering the silly price they are charging for the 2020

Great deal- not in stock now- they’ll make a great present or sling them onto the stack 👍
