Warning:   This is not a GOOD deal😁

HGM excelling themselves now, 1869 shield up at 95% premium, and that's a 5% discount! Only £600

Condition: Better than bullion and no photo of actual coin.

Oh for the good old days of 10%

Sovereigns at £324.60 at Sharps Pixley, the cheapest I could find with delivery included.

Looks like Sharps Pixley and ATS are the best at the minute - I've never bought from either but tempted for a Feb purchase

The only difference I can see if you're just after cheapest bullion is that for a single sov you'll get special delivery with ATS (£200 hurdle) but 2nd class signed for with SP (£500 hurdle). Just depends whether you're more cautious or impatient maybe to pay an extra few £.

Used both, both very reliable.  also nice to note you can purchase from them in person if your visiting London when things are less COVID'y

ATS is right next to the Savoy if you are staying there !

Out of the two, I’ve only ever ordered from Sharps Pixley and they were very good. Even sent specific year Sovereigns for me when I asked.

I could highly recommend Sharps Pixley but I can’t comment on ATS as I’ve never used them.

That's 5 ish % over, not including delivery which is usually the case with most dealers. Delivery isn't really 'free' when it says it is anyway, it's taken into account when priced. When I do my sheets I have a total cost column and a column with the appropriate postage cost removed for comparison purposes. You're buying metal, the post is a necessary service attached to the transaction. Have a look in the dealer directory and work your way through their websites if you're looking for deals 😉

Chards have the option to lock a purchase in now whilst they look to order in stock, their premiums are just as competitive. There is a loooong thread about the pros and cons of this elsewhere, I'm not looking to spark that off again here but it is a 'Gold Deal' option.

Delivery cost already in the price for that one.

And that one too.

* I may be teaching granny to suck eggs but get TSF membership and watch the trade section; there are still good deals to be had from other members and dispatch will be as quick if not quicker than the dealers at the moment.

Oh balls, all that and I'm reading the wrong thread 😶 @HelpingHands could you move this to the deals thread please. I am very silly.

Might pull the trigger on another one before Asia wakes up LOL. ;)
Glad I got into ATS last Friday albeit at a slightly higher rate.

Atkinsons have some secondhand stuff in.

However, In the past I've found the sovs a bit hit and miss on condition.

If you are getting more than one, cost average...buy now, buy later...buy more gold! 😁

Free postage, multiple orders might get grouped by a savvy worker.

I got a single sovereign from sharps pixley last week and it was showing as sent via special delivery.  They sent it out quickly as well.

I just ordered another pre decimal qe2 since I have very few of those and I’d like an almost complete date run from initial minting at some point.  Hopefully I get lucky and get a date I don’t already have.

I would wait for a positive move up now. Looks like it could go a lot lower.
Buying on the way down is an option, but I would rather buy on the way up as the cycles can take months and even years.
Im reasonably new to this to dont take what I say too seriously. ;)

I bought three SOV's  based on the Chinese New year & incase it rebounded, but not so certain now.

There seem to be many factors at play, which are affecting things. We need negative interest, crypto crash and USA lockdown or another event really, but I am getting used to the time frames that gold has as it takes its time compared to other assets and stocks.

Seeing gold as a hedge/back up currency is the best way too view it, so cost averaging regularly is key over 10-20 years. I like to think of how much it is worth in somewhere like Venezuela right now compared to what Im paying. Im certain I will be paying £200 a SOV at some point in the next 50 years (excelling inflation & illegal confiscations LOL).

Obviously buy more when its cheaper, which is what Im doing now. If it goes to £1000 great, i will continue. Sell gold when it reaches a peak and buy it cheaper on the pull backs & dips. Especially the case with silver and perhaps Platinum, which leads a downturn.
