Yesterday the US mint sold 2,000,000 silver eagles in 2 hours.

The US mint sold a record of 5.79 million ASE's in OCT and looks like they will break the record for ASE sales set in 2013 of 42.7 million ozs

The problem with common sense is, its not that common.

Wow, makes you start to think, more people have less faith in the banking system than you would think.

That said, it would interesting to find out where they went.

Not sure if its true but i did here small institutional buyers are taking delivery of physical coins

I think the mint running out is just a shortage of planchettes (i think from silvertowne?) But they use "just in time inventory" So probably not a shortage of silver ..just supply

What sort of % of the people in the US buy ASE and if the people that buy two or three now and again doubled their order to get a quantity break could have such an effect on the monthly supply of ASE.

Would it have to be new buyers?

The US mint doesn't have many 0.999 products. Maybe that could be another reason?

I don't know Stack em, could be a combination of both and dealers taking advantage of the paper smash to re stock at these very low prices.

The problem with common sense is, its not that common.

Dalton makes a very good point; most places are already selling 2015 issues (except Mexico of course who have only recently got around to 2014 coins... Who said they were flatulent and lazy eh?)
