Me Myself and I

Hi guys!

New to the forum and here is a little about myself.

My name's Kev, I'm 32 years of age and work as a gas engineer. I'm from South Wales in the United kingdom. Have been a long time potential PM investor but have never taken the jump to buy until recently. Last October 2018 I took the plunge, rather foolishly as I'd done little research on the market. My first purchase was of just under 300 1oz silver britanias. A 1oz gold krugerrand and a 1oz gold queens beast (Welsh dragon). With uncertain times ahead here in the UK I've started to invest into PM as a potential safe guarding of moneys. I plan to add to the collection as frequently as possible and have definitely caught the silver stacking bug. Any help and advice on best places to buy, specific coins etc would be much appreciated. 😁👍

Hi Steve! In all honesty I think I should of gone down the forum route before the purchase. But that being said I'm not too bothered about the slightly higher premium I paid to start the stack off. I'm looking to invest for the long term rather than spinning them for a few quid in the short term. What are the typical prices you guys are currently paying per Britannia? I jumped on this coin as it's exempt of capital gains tax and seems the cheapest available coins above spot price?

The Brit is a lovely coin, price from europeanmint on the group buy looks to be about Euro 16.12 each plus delivery. Maples are a good low cost coin but they do have a problem with milk spots. My next order will be from these guys https://www.gold-silber-muenzen-shop.de/ but I am waiting for them to get 2019 Brits in.

Ouch!! I just checked my order history and I paid £14.90 ex vat back in October! Good job I'm in it for the long haul. I've seen a few group buy videos on YouTube is this something you've done yourself? I'd be very tempted personally as it seems there's good value for money to be had in doing so. As part of my job I service the heating in the royal mint in llantrisant. Maybe I could ask them of they do staff discount!! Although i highly doubt it lol

At the very least you want to be avoiding buying from within the UK.

There are many european dealers (for now anyway) that you can buy from by yourself or part of a group order.

eg.  https://www.silver-to-go.com/en/

There's a (cool) guy on here selling 25 Brits for £383 posted. That's £15 a coin

Technically, alcohol is a solution..

'It [socialism] poses a growing threat, however unintentional, to the freedom of this country, for there is no freedom where the State totally controls the economy. Personal freedom and economic freedom are indivisible. You can’t have one without the other. You can’t lose one without losing the other.'

"There is no such thing as public money, there is only taxpayers' money"

Let not England forget her precedence of teaching nations how to live.

Possibly not the best place to ask this next question. If it stokes some problems let me know and I can edit said question. But..is this a proven way to avoid the dreaded vat? Many years ago an ex partner bought some items off of eBay and ended up clobbered with an import tax. Or am I getting the 2 mixed up? Most bullion sites I've seen all state you HAVE to pay the 20%. Although if there are other ways about this then I'm all ears 👍

Welcome Kev.

We're in the EU (For now). No import tax as long as you buy from within EU

Hi nice to meet you.👍.

I best get a bit of a move on with some orders. I had a quick look at the guy who sorts out the bulk buying, seems a good idea/opportunity

I have  on , a number of orders to the European mint, personally saved over 1.5K on what you pay in the UK! - if that helps

Again. I wish I'd found this forum back in October. My first order I would of saved £600 alone. You live and learn though. At least i know for today onwards!
