just a thought :

would you get the same look by dipping a gilded gold on

silver in that detergent solution turning the silver black

but leaving the unreactive gold as is?

I thought of that after seeing the coin the Dr dipped in bleach.

I wonder if it'd work.

So milk spots will be black I suppose?

Chocolate-milk spots!!! lol Yummy!

Don't actually like it much myself. I have never been keen on coloured or gilded coins. Silver should be silver, and gold should be gold!!! :)

neither do I, I hate aftermarket cosmetic surgeries.

go to nearby art shops and buy yourself a tube of acrylic paint; gold and black. Pick up a piece of silver eagle (you may bargain for lower price for toned/spotted copies), and enjoy your evening painting your coin!

Anyone bought this coin?

There's a Chinese Panda coin that's had the same treatment on Ebay.

Just won a bid on eBay for one of these. Will post pictures when it arrives from New York.

Arrived from Germany yesterday even though I had bought it from a dealer in New York.
