I took a punt on a coin a little while ago, and I can't find any info on it at all.

Here is the coin.......

Now it may turn out to be nothing, and if so I'll just chuck it in the safe with the rest of the collection.

However, I note the colour looks a little "goldy".

The only other similar coin I can find online is this one.......

This is also 10000 francs from Guinea, and it's 0.900 gold.

Can anybody find any info on the coin I bought, which I admit is probably not even made from a precious metal, but I took a punt all the same.

Before I give you an answer, how much does it weigh and what did you pay for it.

Cos I know what it is.... ;)

I don't know how much it weighs or how big it is, in fact I know nothing at all about it. And I don't really want to divulge cost at this stage, I don't suppose it really matters.

So what do you know HT?

Interesting, thanks gents.

Looks like I'll have to weigh it to know for certain, but I'd guess it's the silver.

£8.75 spot price is slightly less than I paid for it. Ha ha

Looking at the coin in relation to the box size, it looks silver to me. But for a silver proof with a mintage of 1,000 you've got a decent bargain. nice one :D

Cheers HT, looking at the pictures again the gold colour looks like a reflection.

It'll be silver I think, something a little different to the norm I guess.

Some silver proofs do get a gold tone to them and can be desirable to some collectors. I saw a 1oz roo proof that had a gold tone on ebay Germany just over a year ago it made good money, I was surprised but the German collectors loved it.

The problem with common sense is, its not that common.

I'll wait and see, but I reckon it's just reflection.

As HT said, 1K mintage (and zero desirability) but happy with the price I paid.

Well, it's silver.

Nice enough coin though, and I'll chuck it in the safe, but I think I'll stick to more modern stuff.

Proof & low mintage though, so I'm relatively happy.
