i have noticed these this past month, there seems to be an abundance of these springing up over fleabay

http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_odkw=Silver+Britannia+Coin+Coloured&_sop=3&LH_Auction=1&LH_Complete=1&_from=R40&_osacat=0&_from=R40&_trksid=p2045573.m570.l1313.TR0.TRC0.H0.XSilver+Britannia+Coin+Colourized&_nkw=Silver+Britannia+Coin+Colourized&_sacat=0

The way i read it, they are an officially minted coins like a Britannia USE or maple is these given whatever treatment it is given to make it appear all pretty and colourful and arty by a 'private mint'

As these are not official and i guess any number could be custom made. I have a little bit of a bitter taste with these.

Is the gilding or coluring made to last? quality standard of an an official mint, i dont think so?

Whilst i appreciate the actually do look quite nice. I cant see myself buying some any time soon

Also i feel some people may be buying them thinking they are official issue when in fact they are not.

Judging from my searches via watchcount.com and goofbay they seem pretty very popular and through ebay completed items for the last month, people are paying like double the cost of a bog standard britannia for a bit of colour

Opinions anybody ??

Don't like colourised coins, official or unofficial.... Makes the coins look like cheap tat in my opinon

I'm going to side with HT on this one.

I only have one colourised coin, a limited edition maple. Don't like it, wish I could sell it for what I bought it for.

Stacker since 2013

I have 1 colored coin and that's a 2 oz lunar mouse, its actually not bad for a colored coin..don't think i would buy more though, looking at the price they are going for someones making some decent cash from it!

I know that "home brew" gilding is quite an issue on ebay.

I quite like the coloured lunar dragons but other than that nah they don't really do much for me, I like silver because it's silver and gold because it's gold, they both ooze class, no colours needed.
