This £20 for £20 thing.....

I was really excited get my first silver £20 coin from the Royal Mint. The UK's first ever £20 coin, It was special!

Is anyone else feeling a bit let down now they have released a second one? Like it has devalued the one which you already have. Like you feel almost obliged to now purchase this one as well?

And just to rub the salt in, they advertise it as "Only the second coin ever in the UK, a fine silver £20 coin for only £20"

That just seems a little less special!

"The first £20 for £20 coin sold out!" Oh really? Took best part of a year though didn't it? Not exactly the hot cake sell out implied lol

And you know what's worse? I actually even like the design! Love it!

I am going to have to get one, huh? Despite the terrible premium on the silver. Arse biscuits!

Ya i got 3 of the first ones i have loaded my basket few times to buy 5 but tbh i cant get motivated about it they have sold over 100k of them now tho so defiantly be worth getting

think is in 10 years time if they do 1 a year youll have £200 worth in just the coin face value + the premium some will sell for more as with everything

I cant see a bullion shop giving you less than face value for them in time tho

It's a "no brainer" - £20 face value, cannot ever be worth less so by definition can only have upside potential.

Actually thanks to inflation that £20 face value is worth less each and every year, and unless silver rises to over £40 an ounce, intrinsically it will never be worth more than the day you bought it.

Although there are still plenty of mugs on ebay paying over the odds for them even though they can buy them at face value from the RM, so there is a silver lining of sorts.

I've just checked ebay for some sold prices and the latest £20 coin is being sold for around £20 or so plus postage on ebay. Which means there are some daft sellers there making a big loss on the coins........maybe the £20 coin bubble has burst

I have 3 of each but only bought the first as the first coin in a series .. not even sure why i bought the second coin

I see no down side ... as in you'd get your £20 back from the post office if you sold at face value

And little upside in the short term... no real demand and little intrinsic metal value compare to spot price

I also bought some of these with a view to keeping one and selling the rest on for a profit as does seem to be the case with

the first coin in the series now it is no longer available from RM.

I think the people paying over the odds for the coins are likely to be international buyers as RM will only send to addresses

within the UK.

A £20 legal tender silver coin is for me a novelty and something I might hand to children in later years rather than a tired looking £20 note. Provided you can get these new from the Royal Mint free of delivery charges I think this is a nice item to hold.

For me, the point is that I was excited to think I had something unusual, and interesting. The one and only silver £20 coin. And it isn't any more. It's now the two and only £20 coins. Will next year see it becoming the 3 and only £20 coins? The more they issue them the less special they become. I found this s bit disappointing, that's all. Never mind the investment, or value etc. I was a nice collectable. The more they make the collectable they are.

I agree Pete.

I would like to hand all my silver to my granddaughters and my sons, the gold I have told my wife is hers to do with as she pleases when I am gone.

So fingers crossed nothing will happen that will make me sell my PM's, but if it does then hopefully I can live quite well with the stack I have.

I have 3 of the first £20 (St George and the Dragon), and i got them after I receive my Royal Birth coin.

They sell well on Ebay now, have seen some go for around £28.  I think they are

probably going to international buyers as RM only send to UK addresses.

I'm not too worried about resale value at the moment it's the choice of topic for the reverse that does bother me what will it be next year and the year after. WW1 isn't a bad choice but what if it's a 25th anniverary of a bog snorkelling competition or a 50th of a world cup victory, these

would hold as much interest as a nasty dose of the clap!

I would still buy but if it went the same way as 5oz ATB collection i may change my mind and punt the lot.

Nay, Royal Mint sells them on their website and they ship to Singapore. If I am not mistaken when they were release there was order limit of 3, then opened up to 5, then 10, then unlimited or something like that...

Curious, have you had some delivered to Singapore as it does clearly state exclusively available in the UK?  Limit is 5 at present,

although you can place a second order once the first has been fulfilled.

Yes I ordered them through Royal Mint's website at its list price and they were delivered directly to me from Pontyclun to Singapore.

Its not exclusive to UK, if it does I doubt Royal Mint will be able to get rid of all 250,000 of them in UK alone.

Limit was 3 per billing address that time.

The first coin was limited to three coins then five. Then they opened the floodgates cause they were delling like hotcakes for months

When i ordered the second coin a few days ago the limit was five but don't know about delivery.

The limit is still 5 when I tried to insert 99 in my shopping basket. But again Royal Mint allows the second £20 coin to be delivered to overseas as well.
