Coin Tubes

Bought some of these coin tubes from Atkinsons today...

http://atkinsonsbullion.com/accessories/coin-tube-silver-eagle

For £1.80 each delivered, they seem like a bargain.

I'll put some of my non numi bullion coins in them rather than filling up my coin case.

Anybody tried them?

They are square on all sides so should stack well.

Hello

They do look good but I need a mass storage solution for my coins as there are 884 now. Some NGC, PCGS etc.

I really like the £2.49 storage containers I use currently as they let me store around 130 coins still in their plastic holders.

May buy some and see what they are like though.

Cheers

K

Yeah i've got a whole bunch of them in all the different sizes, they come in really handy! My sovereigns in their capsules stack in the half dollar tubes, and my .925 half crowns stack perfectly in the gold eagle tubes as well!

Where could I get silver half crowns for a good price?

Not many places as far as I know unless you get lucky on eBay.

Prices of sterling circulated are a bit mad at the moment.

We should be able to buy near-spot bags like in the US, but sadly not.

I got lucky on ebay bud and bought a job lot at a good price. Depending on condition they usually sell for around £6 or £7 upwards...If you buy in bulk sometimes you can get lucky if no-one else is bidding at that time ;)

Around 30 per tube ;)

Cheers bud. 0.42oz silver, so £6 ish is the way to go?

Where the tubes from, I need a tube of half crowns for my old mans birthday. Been struggling to think of a gift. Sorted.

Just had a good look round and i can't see any in this country :( It's so annoying! The US have got easy access to all the good stuff!!! I'll keep looking for you ;) I've not got any spare otherwise i'd have sent you one....

That's a really kind thought, thanks DS. I'll keep looking too.

I'd love to sort my old man (and he is old) with a tube of half crowns.

Look out for household and everyday items, as I said before in the £ shops round light tin pencil cases , at Xmas you can get fruit pastille , and smartie round tins that will hold coins in capsules, round plastic pill boxes , are good for bullion half and full sovereigns , anything that does not cost is good , as it only goes away into storage. More money for bullion

I have a couple of these that I bought from atkinsons, I will put some libertads in them.

They are the same as the original ASE tubes right?

I hope those coin armour bags I bought are good, then I will put all the tubes into bags to give ultimate protection against tarnishing. Then, In years to come, I will have the most shiny silver in the land. :)

Not sure, but I don't think so mate. Those were normal tubes with a green lid as far as I remember.

Yea I think your right dan. My memory was serving me incorrectly. These square tubes are popular: http://www.providentmetals.com/american-silver-eagle-tubes-coin-safe-41mm.html I must have seem them around enough places and refereed to as ASE tubes that I thought they were.

I bought some of those square tubes incase any ASE's or Libertads I get needed a home.

The Libertads I bought, (from silver to go) arrived today in a nice tube like this:

Yea, that's the problem in the EU, the most close I found to the US bags were some .720 old Dutch junk, about a dozen bags circulate, bought from and sold back to a few dealers numerous times during my 3 years silver life.

Collecting junk and targeting price bottoms is a hard combination. Requires luck and lotsa checking around. For ex, just before the latest $19>$22 price swing I had luck to find some1 selling 100 25gr0.900 coins and after asking for more it ended with 350, at the lowest price I found so far. I now sometimes wonder if he regretted his quicksale (he showed signs of hurry selling).
