Has any one out there, sold there whole stack and re bought again?

My ounce to pound average is £23.44 per ounce,i have 65oz,.If i was lucky to get an average of £19 per ounce after charges and postage per ounce i would have £1,235,if i could manage to buy back in one ounce bullion say  at £18 per ounce.£65 profit to buy more ounce's.three and a half more at £18.

It would be a lot of hassle to do but three and a half free ounces technically, personally i can't be bothered to do it and also there is the packaging to be taken into consideration.

I hope my sums are correct,, sums and spelling not my strong point.

Over to you guys, just a thought to ponder over.

You can buy cheaper than £18 an ounce if you are buying that much.

I think it would be fairly difficult to get £19 an ounce for yours after all charges and packaging etc, and it would be a massive ballache.

If you were to buy 70 silver phillys from ESB, you would have a to-your-door price of £15.57 per ounce.

But then you wouldn't have a varied stack, but you would have more silver.

Same amount is £15.22 an ounce from STG.

Cheapest at Atkinsons would be £17.37 per ounce.

Tempting, but I'm not sure I'd want to be bothered and I like my collection.

So, assuming £19 cleared and a purchase from STG, you would have 19x65=£1235 to spend.

This would get you 81oz and a bit of change, profiting you 16oz, albeit all the same and phillys.

If you went for maples you would profit about 13oz.

I agree with you Danny, if you are changing your approach to 'buy cheap, pile high' then it's a good move. But I wouldn't want to part woith some of my lovely coins for a heap of bullion! I guess in a SHTF scenario I might live to regret that decission. Well, I am an appocaloptamist! I reckon it will all work out in the end any way! B)

Many thanks for the reply Dan, it is defiantly worth a thought, could put up on E-Bay on a free listing day and i have been saving old packaging for a long time to re-use in a sell off one day.

My Stack is mundane and not as sexy as your's i would have no feelings on parting with it, but when you have put the effort in to amass an impressive collection it is understandably a different animal.

Also if some more funds were added to the final sell off pot to re-buy, the larger the order the lower the price, it would help out even more.

Id say, sell them for a small profit on eBay and buy more silver! Anyone who isn't using there ~£10k of capital gains tax allowance, and has free time to do so, should sell there silver and buy more. You can make £10k profit or whatever the CGT allowance is per year and not have to pay a single penny in tax. So it makes perfect sense for a lot of seller to do.

People could buy a couple of tubes of some silver from Germany and sell on eBay, use the profits to roll back into more silver, all legally and without having to pay any tax, providing their profits are within the limit. Some people could be growing their stack by £10k a year for free!

Yea. Though people might have to be careful, as that might actually constitute as running a business.

I think I will purchase 2-3 tubes from STG, sell the individual coins on ebay for around £18 per coin, I would then make a profit of around £2.50-£3.00 per coin. Use my profits to buy more silver, rinse and repeat until I get £1000. Free silver for me :)

Only problem I see is that, My ebay has no seller feedback especially silver bullion feedback so I do not think anyone would buy of me as they would like to buy of reputable dealers.

Don't forget to factor in eBay & PayPal fees into your profits.

eBay fees and PayPal fees will run you to about 13.5%.

So if you bought at £15.50 an ounce and flipped on eBay for £18, you would get £15.57.

Based on that, you would need to flip over 14,000 coins to make your £1000.

And you haven't factored in shipping and eBay idiots that claim they haven't received the coins.

If you sell for £18 including shipping, you will make a big loss.

If you sell for £18 plus shipping, it would take you years to sell 14,000 coins as there are similar prices rounds available.

That's my calculation anyway, it's not easy to make money from flipping bullion on eBay.

That Is the thing holding me back, I think I will ask people to put money striaght into a paypal account, to avoid the 10% ebay fees, and just get charged the 5 percent paypal fees.

Don't forget eBay owns PayPal, and they do cross reference between the two.

I'm not sure how long you'd get away with it.

If it was profitable, there would be a ton of £20 bullion on BIN. As far as I can see, there is none in the UK. Cheapest I can see is £22

eBay sold Paypal. However, they work closely together and you will most likely get banned pretty quickly for asking eBay buyers to complete the transaction outside of eBay as it's avoiding their eBay fee and is against their rules.

eBay and PayPal are amongst the most strict companies, and PayPal has even limited many legitimate businesses from trading and caused those businesses to fail. They seem to block accounts for any reason. So good luck.

If I was you I would just try to sell on eBay by following all of there rules. Also ebay restrict new members to the amount they can list per month.

Thats news to me too on Paypal have to look into it. On the Ebay thing I would just stay clear of it and just keep stacking away an ounce or two at a time or what ever your disposable income allows. You will be amazed how quickly it adds up to a good sized stack. And thats without all the hassle of packing ,fees, and potential problems with trades. If you can find a trusted dealer who will hold your purchases for a short time till you have a parcel to make it worthwhile postage wise in one go. I do this with SGB in Oz. One gram Gold or one ounce of silver at a time.Maybe Iceblue could explain how it works better than me.Just another viewpoint.

They are still saying on eBay that they still own it.

Ok, sorry I was mistaken. It sold part of PayPal in an initial public offering, and now trades on the NASDAQ under the ticker symbol PYPL.

I am unsure as to how much of PayPal is still owned by eBay and it's shareholders, and how much of PayPal is owned by other shareholders, as I am unable to find figures.

Edit: I think the above is correct. However, PayPal used to be a separate company before eBay purchased it. It's all a bit messy when trying to google it. Anyway at the end of the day it doesn't make much difference, fact of the matter is, if you sell on eBay the fees are going to be big.

Looks like I will just have to work more overtime, and buy bulk from STG

I reckon that's the best plan to be honest mate.

There is money to be made on semi-numi if you can get it cheap and wait a while, but not really with regular bullion.

You need to see the bigger picture here, just image in 8 years time when gold is at £2481.6/oz and silver has risen to a record £848.63/oz.

Now do the maths!!!

You see.

I wish!!!
