Anyone else got their eye on the soon to be released (early August I believe) JFK 3 quarter ounce gold coin?

I've read it'll go for around $1,200.

That looks really nice, always been keen on the (silver) Kennedy halfs but gee, can't fork out that much!

A fool and his money etc.....................comes to mind

Or alternatively the influence a collectors market can have on the value of a coin ;)

It's the yank obsession with JFK, that is fueling these daft prices. If you stuck tricky Dicky Nixon 's face on the coin you'd struggle to sell them at spot.

Surely it's got to be worth the outlay of $1.240  for a quick turnaround?  http://catalog.usmint.gov/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?catalogId=10001&storeId=10001&productId=17610&langId=-1&parent_category_rn=&_ga=1.67547730.293466088.1407920801

Shipping to Europe from US Mint is $18.

If you've got the cash, I'd say go for it. You should make a nice quick profit. Although I can see this coin only rising in price as most people will be buying to keep long term as a JFK memento. As I said the Americans go nuts for anything JFK related, and normal collecting patterns and prices go out of the window when he is involved. I've seen this in both the philatelic world and the autograph and signed memorabilia world
