Silver has not been good to me

I recall reading this regret on the forum and perhaps it applies to me too.

This is not a sales thread, more a reflection,

Could anyone estimate what I'd get for these, if I were lucky. My 'collecting' days...

(I know the answer is <13 oz)

I'll reveal my costs later. For fun :(

45ozs Lunars, Kooks, Pandas ,Brits ,Libs

$1379.24

Lots of collectable coins there, if in good condition I agree 20. If bullion condition then bullion prices.

Silver has been tough to more people because the window of 10 an ounce was shorter than the 700 and change an ounce for gold. Then factor in premiums and postage and you are killing your chances. I was lucky I bought a lot of silver at the lows. It's platinum I got wrong still underwater on that trade, again down to premiums.

I think you'd average closer to £20/oz, than £13/oz for that lot.

I don't feel so bad now...may break even :)

Exactly that KDave, bought the wrong things at the wrong time! Should have bought more £170 sovs than £30/oz silver.

I have charted my average buy price per T oz for my one ounce only bullion coins including shipping etc ( i.e. what I call net landed cost ).

Coins include Eagles, Kooks, Maples, Britannias, Canadian Wildlife, Koalas, Libertads.
Excluded are Lunars, Roos, Pandas and proofs and coins weighing more than 1 Toz.

The date ( year ) is when purchased and not the date marked on the coin.

I was surprised to see my 2017 average so high but I have been buying smaller lots and some missing dates for sets etc. so paying extra.

there are many post april 2011 coins so your average can't

be that bad. I'm trying to see it as, if you've learnt from the

experience then it could still be money well spent. I'm so

glad that I voted sovereigns quite early in my stacking. at

least it means my more valuable coins are currently in the

black.

Agreed HH.

It was the Lunars that broke me! :)

Fortunately, I've been buying sovs too :D

But you have the confidence of a numismatist! :D

I don't like silver* anymore, it was a poor speculation for me.

I'm not trying to be negative here, more an example to new stackers to really really consider their motivation and exit strategy before they click that button.

If they're in good condition I'd happily give you £15 for the Kooks and Pandas + postage as a lot Roy (possibly the Brits too if they're not spotty, but what are the chances!).

I don't really want them, of course - just trying to help you out and ease your pain (and I know fridge upkeep ain't cheap!)

Thanks Roy, I am new to this and will now be just getting a foundation stack of basic bullion then moving into 1/4 oz brits, krugs and some sovs. I will not be paying over £22 delivered for silver.

Yep, I too am buried in some silver I bought a few years ago -- but I'm not going to dump it just to buy more at a lower price.  I don't trade in the British or Aussie gold/silver, so I don't know if any of your coins are particularly rare.  However, worst case scenario is you can always get spot for your coins.  Yep, I know they were sold with a premium over spot, and many have a nice presentation box.  You have two outlets if you wish to sell:  try eBay or other venue to see if you can get retail prices for the coins (which could take some time); or find a dealer that sells these issues and work the best deal you can with him for the lot.  Of course, if you're not eager to sell, sitting on them is zero risk at present.  Thanks from Scotty at CoinFinders  www.coinfinders.com

That sounds pretty good buddy! @ShadowStack doesn't post much on here I don't think but his foundation videos under the same username on Youtube are very good - lots to learn there imo. I would say though that I think it's sometimes worth paying a bit more for part of your foundation that is likely to keep some sort of premium and less likely to spot or arrive scratched in tubes (just as one example, Kooks versus Brits, but it can depend on vendor in my experience).

I think you may have your gold targets a bit 'wrong' - but that's only from my pov! An interesting discussion for another thread perhaps (?). Keep us posted!

Well I'd hang on to them all then mate. Lose a load (with great regret) or have faith that PMs are undervalued and wait until the price suits you!

If you're desperate to get rid at a loss PM me about the Kooks and Pandas, but mind you as you've spray painted your Brits 'sovereign gold' and you say they're your best perhaps we'll leave it (though morbid curiosity does beg me to know what on earth you've done to the others!) :o

It is a spooky effect, isn't it?

I blame the contamination on fermented cabbage and radishes. The missus has a lot to answer for. :D

They're not for sale, thanks though. I can hold. :)

@Roy I will melt anything you would rather have as hand poured silver ?.

I bought my first silver coins 2 years ago this month when spot was £9.25/oz

My first silver Britannia's and maples were £10.90 each!

Those have been long melted now though!

Same old Roy, blame the missus for your defaced spray-painted Brit/Sov hybrid monsters and blame it all on simple healthy foodstuffs

Come on, just admit this is a stealth 'look at my lovely silver collection' thread and be done with it! :P

I think there are 'specialist forums' for people to talk about their kilogram weed purchases which are probably more suitable :o

(But while we're on the subject, would you take three milky Brits for an eighth of Jamaica's finest?)

I remember it well.

I think it was Danny and Madstacks who were buying at the lowest of the lows.

I'd lost interest by then really. My biggest gold accumulation was around that time too.

Then there was a time when Arshi went on holiday and I had to buy FROM DEALERS!

So rude! :D
