Today I Received.....

Message added by ChrisSilver

The Today I received section is for private individuals to share items they have purchased for their collection / as part of their investment.

The Today I received section is not to be used for businesses to promote their business. Trade members and those operating as a business in the eyes of the forum are invited to enquire about a Dealer Sub Forum, where you may start your own Today _____ received topic to post your commercial purchases. E.g. The Today Chards Received..... topic.

1 Libra Peru received today. Thanks to @Leonmarsh's post in gold deals. Stupid question but its got a bit of muck on it, is it worth trying some soapy water treatment?

Yes, warm soapy water should work very well. If the muck persists, you could use an old, soft, toothbrush. Then rinse well and dab dry (the coin, not the toothbrush). 🙂

In South Wales for a week. Went to Cardiff and some of the many arcades on St Mary St. My 10 year old bought this with his own money. 15 quid for 2000 years of history cant be bad. Bronze Faustina The Younger, AD 175ish. Obviously really worn, but a really happy new owner. All good. Hopefully my 2oz completer will be waiting for me when I get home too...

Thank you! I'll have a look. That makes sense as all the Faustina coins I saw all had her seated to the left, not the right as on this coin. I know nothing about these coins and it was cheap so wasnt too concerned, but it's nice to know what it actually is. Thanks again.

They look great. Some unusual discoloration/tarnish on them as if they've been stored together and away from normal circulation, it gives them character. Do you know any of their history?

I'm afraid I do not. A good friend bought them for me from an old man in a flea market.
