Royal Mint 2008 Gold Proof £1 Shield

 

Although still one coin short of the full set of different 75 silver round pounds, I thought this fellow might make an attractive headliner for my planned display. 

 

This particular design is the most prolific, featuring on the reverse of eleven Ag £1 coins from 2008-2016 (twice in 2012 and 2015).

 

Weighing in at 19.61g of 22ct gold (17.98g agw), it is over twice as heavy as its Sterling silver counterpart.

 

Total mintage 1746, including those issued in sets.

These only two coins on my bucket list set up an alert with Chards and spoken. As soon as I get the email of availability I am hitting the buy button. Need these two finish off stack of 5 other bullion unique design 1 oz Gold Britannia coins collected so far. Very hard coins to find looked at every UK/German/USA dealer but no luck so far.

so this arrived today by FED EX ( not RMSD) from the mint , 1 oz,

i will be honest this is purley a speculative purchase, for a quick flip if there is demand with it been a low mintage so i can make a bit of brass 😀, first time trying this what you think?, so if it has no demand it can go in the stack/ safe.👍

I’m starting to think the RM have something against their own products. ☹️

Wrapping a tiny amount of cellophane around a capsule solves the problem!

The Nautical was a last minute addition but honestly the pictures don't do it justice at all, it really is a beautiful piece.....or at least I think so 😁

More bullion grade Sovereigns from 2013 which I might just flip a few, as a decent price for a quick sale. Thinking of doing a bullion sovereigns date run, as date runs seem to have captured my kids interest.

Plus a tube of 2017 Brits from @arshimo2012who promised me some later this week, when fast finger @Tn21had beat to some he put up earlier by about a minute.
