Thanks all- this will be my last purchase for quite some time (except some smaller easier on the wallet purchases)- I'm through with doing overtime to fund coins for a while- I'm stressed and burnt out with work-but I digress,  what a coin to go out on!  

I have swapped out most of my modern Sovereigns- save my beloved 2005 and 1989 sets in favour of the México Gold (and Silver).  

Anyway, this 2017 Five Pound Piece might well rekindle some desire for the Sovereign when I come back to buying. Its strange- that this 2017 Five Pound Sovereign cost me a tenner less than its release price- and it sat on Atkinsons website for at least 24 hours or so- I put it in my basket and took it out numerous times on Monday evening, I couldn't believe it was still there yesterday morning so I called Atkinsons for a condition report and spoke to Paul, he took a look at it and called me back and said 'I've nothing to report, except you should buy it'- he was absolutely right.  Anyway- On Monday evening, I did have a look at a  @Numistacker video from around the release time, and also had a look around for sold prices of late- but I also had a look around the forum and found this thread- sometimes amusing to look back and see the Forums views of new RM releases with hindsight:

Awesome.  I bought mine from the RM on the day of release, so yours is a tenner cheaper than mine 😊

I hope you never tire of it.  It will certainly be the last coin I would sell.

Thanks- yes its a stunner.  I had this conversation earlier with @sovereignsteve- probably not, I'm of the opinion that some coins are best left 'as is' and for me, this will be one of them.  I prefer my 1989 Set this way and when I eventually get my 1937 Set 😉 it'll be definitely be left in its musty smelling case for sure 😂

Today I received The 007 1/4 oz gold proof coin. Bought with the intention of flipping but this baby is staying. Super impressed with the coin in hand. The large blank field is stunning and I was lucky enough to recieve a flawless coin with a low coa(11). This will be graded and going in the perma stack. Honestly photos dont do justice.

Ever since I had my first piedfort pound proof silver I have been in love with how nice they actually are. Been saving as many as I can from melt piles regardless of condition. been trying to grab the normal size proof ones too though it seems piedfort get scrapped more than the standard ones. 
 

Might antique the lot one day as they have marks etc anyway, might look nicer.
