Just googled the 5oz Bermuda Triangle- no sad loss there!

But sad to hear Centenario’s hit the melting pot.

can you not convince them that coins can be worth a few minutes thinking before they melt? how about getting them to run any coins past you before they act? I'm sure you'd happily swap them out for an appropriate weight of gold.

That’s what I try and do but the fact is I don’t have enough gold or cash to save all lol

Nice Libertad Set received today. A tiny 500 mintage of each weight of Gold Proof in 2015- all in sets.  Not an easy set to acquire.  With thanks to @Fivepoundfred for the opportunity to buy this beautiful set.4F9C9CAC-78BD-49A0-A922-3C985368734D.thumb.jpeg.13ab5cda64d392e4adbe8503dfb59f3c.jpegE15BBCD9-CCE0-4F45-A322-D8C9E6E04273.thumb.jpeg.2667c8306dca8995164ffb66d92d1469.jpeg

That is a great set and 2015 is a pretty great year. Gold Libertads are one of the most beautiful semi-numismatic coins out there and these sets rarely come onto the market. I think that sets and individual coins are a great choice and a good investment. One of the keys to the series is the 2017 1/10th BU Libertad. There were only 300 of these minted this year compared to thousands regularly minted in this size.

1939 Proof Victoria Shield - PR62 (en medaille) - It is believed that the coins stuck in medal alignment match the Una and lion and therefore are from the coronation set.

This coin is undergraded in my opinion, I've got another PR62 that is nowhere near as nice as this, and seen other that are verging on "manky" and still got a PR62. It was obviously graded some time ago due to the old label

It is a beauty in almost any condition and in high grades these have become a £20k plus coin. It is interesting that yours is enMedaile as mine is coin alignment. Perhaps the ones that Wyon sold separately from his studio were in coin alignment.

Yea I'm not 100% sure it's fully known, and why I've bought a few as I intend to try and find out a bit more. Back to the archives at Kew for me! :)

Btw I also have a couple of coin alignment ones, according to PCGS pop they are more common but I'm not 100% sure, I think they just dont have a clue to be honest, wouldn't surprised me if there are lots out there in wrong holders.

When you are at Kew take a look at the records for 1825. I would love to know what was happening at the time the 1825 pattern sovereign was being designed and there were two patterns both with a 7 heart semee. One has Plain Edge and one has Grained Edge. I believe both were known in 1922 according to my research and then forgotten. It was believed until last year that the 7 heart semee coins only existed in Plain edge. I have the first one recently identified with grained edge and 7 hearts and it is believed 3-4 exist of this type.

This new discovery means that the supposedly less rare 1825 grained edge with 9-12 known is actual two varieties, one with 3-4 known and the other with 8 heart semee perhaps 7-10 known. The Royal Mint Museum have no type 1 7 heart semee coin in their collection at the moment.
