Depends if it has been cleaned or not, perhaps it has ? Fields are very shiny which would destroy grading it would come back unc details cleaned

Thanks for the info! I'm honestly not sure if it's been cleaned but I don't think so. Fields are shiny/reflective but I see embedded surface grime with a loupe. Coin also bought from a reputable coin shop (Galata) and they described the condition as EF without any mention of cleaning. Still, I am nowhere near knowledgeable enough to truly know! :)

Bente is fantastic and grades very conservatively, coin seems to have a proof like appearance with a few contact marks. Nice example I’d say.

Lovely coin though want one myself want poo pooing the coin, was just thinking if it was sent to grade

I know mate! Skin thick as a rhino here so even if you did want to slag it off I'd take it in good spirits and swiftly regret my purchase! Always happy to suck it up and move on if I've been taken for a mug so all input appreciated.. :D

Not something I would usually buy but the design is surprisingly nice (in my opinion) and great to see this man commemorated. Without him The Second World War could have had a very different ending.

I’m not sure I’d pay that again though for 8 grams of silver. 😬

I was recently shocked to learn what happened to this hero and how the British government treated him.

Great coin

Wow what a nice 50p piece, never seen that one before and I collect all the picture 50p and £2 coins.

And yes @Foster88 the 2nd World War would've certainly been different. Alan Turing was the key individual in deciphering the Enigma machine which I'm sure everyone already knows.

How much did that coin cost you?

It's available on the RM site. Think it's £57ish.

Hi @TheShinyStuff, thanks for the tip. I litteraly have hundreds of the picture 50p pieces, but I have to say they are all mainly the actual legal tender circulated kind with no precious metal content.

Still fun to collect though.

It’s very sad what happened. Unbelievable really to think it was in the 1950’s, not really that long ago.

I agree, I have hundreds as well, you used to get loads in your change, but not so much now. I suppose lots more collectors. Would love to have found a Kew Gardens. My favourite is probably the Olympic high jump.

Same with the £2, some great designs out there.

Yes I think there's definitely a lot more collectors now. I have one of those Change Checker folders that's coming close to completion.

I don't have the Kew Gardens either but I do have a lot of multiples, so maybe we could do some swaps at some point in the future?

I had the football/soccer offside coin but Iost it somewhere, gutted about that because I think its one of the rarest ones.

Don't think I could name my favourite, I love them all lol 😆

Yeah for sure. He was persecuted because of his sexuality.

He was a complete genius and was a key factor in the intelligence war, which he basically won for the allies.

His Ultra level intercepts literally saved thousands of lives, and affected all theaters of war from helping the convoys in the Atlantic to gathering intelligence on Rommel in the African deserts.

His contributions were uncalculable yet he was treated with such disdain. A sad chapter in history indeed.

I do appreciate the design of the Philly in the main but the use of the comma in lieu of a decimal point in the face value ie 1,50 rather than 1.50 euros sends my OCD into overdrive...How much prettier it would be if but for the for lack of a comma...🤔
