The Today I received section is for private individuals to share items they have purchased for their collection / as part of their investment.

The Today I received section is not to be used for businesses to promote their business. Trade members and those operating as a business in the eyes of the forum are invited to enquire about a Dealer Sub Forum, where you may start your own Today _____ received topic to post your commercial purchases. E.g. Hey just send me a message when you're thinking of buying. I have a 100% forecasting record.

All I need to do is lock in a price by text with my local bullion dealer for an oz or two and automatically the price will be down the next day. Im like Midas, in reverse 😂

Let me know next time you do and I'll buy the day after :D

Today I restored....

I bought this battered old 1925 hallmarked silver antique box at auction, I know, I must be mad!!

I cleaned and sanded the bits of wood, worked out what went where like an antique jigsaw. Straightened the lead base, glued it all back together and polished away and it’s turned out good for 97 years old.

But like a true PM collector I was able to work out it’s silver weight when it was in pieces. 😆

I’m not sure I’ll be buying any more in this state but I’m pleased how this has turned out.

Just wondering what the overall weight of the Cigar box was and it’s net Silver weight?
I’m interested as I once had a monster 1.5kg box and always wondered what the net weight would have been.  The Cedar wood lining is negligible but the weight in the lid and bottom looks to be significant.

Where did you find this? I wouldn’t mind one myself 😂❤️

It was an ebay purchase. They do turn up occasionally, different banks, shapes and sizes etc. I've seen them for holding £300 sovereigns too.

Watch out though, just like collecting coins, once you start you can't stop! 😀

Big thanks to @stefffana and @Mortimer for today's arrivals.

Nobody mention to @Dakaras or @Mtaybar that I've completed my 1/10th run before them. So what if I never left south Africa 🙃
