Hello all, I'm jason & I'm new to the silver game as well as the forum. In the past 3 days I have purchased my very 1st bits of bullion after weeks of research and doing my homework. So far it is a mere 2x 1 ounce Johnson Matthey bars and a 5 ounce hand poured Scottsdale bar. I paid $116.05 for the Scottsdale but I was alright with that because from what I understand, the premium is how "quality" is established. Anyway, I look forward to learning much more, and adding to my scant few 7 ounces I have, & make it grow. I view it as sort of a savings plan, I understand the 40:1 / 70:1 strategy, so I'm not going to be so attached that I won't ever sell. The idea is to make the $ coupons grow.

Cool visual I did with my brother that thinks silver buying is just an economical way to proclaim you're a conservative: I took a piece of paper as we were sitting by the fire pit on his visit. I told him, this is a $1 bill pretend. This $1 bill will eventually make me $1 poorer and someone else $1 richer. These paper things have value because the government says they have value. Then I set it on fire. I said now it has turned into garbage. I took tongs and held a quarter over the fire. I said, now pretend this is an ounce of silver. This has had value longer than the USD. I said, I can hold this in fire and melt it and dribble it everywhere, but no matter what happens, it will ALWAYS be silver. The thing backing the USD is now hope & that vault is dwindling down rapidly.

He understood. He said, nobody explained it that way before, he said, "I thought it was just a bunch of crazy people preparing for doomsday".

I said, yeah, there is that perception, but until 5 minutes ago, a crazy person understood the true value of the dollar better than you did.

I do feel that, as per your first post, it's quite hard to convince a non-believer on silver stacking / collecting.

The few people I have told all think I'm a bit eccentric.

It could turn out to be crap idea, but I'm enjoying it!!!
