Were you buying silver back in 2011?

Particularly aimed at those buying silver on eBay during this time, what do you remember the activity on there being like?  Was it a mad rush whenever anything was listed that it was all selling like hot cakes during the rise to $49?

I've been picking up the odd bit of pre 1920 British silver coinage here and there and wonder what the mood was at the time on eBay for stuff like this.

(yes I meant were not where in title!!)  Cheers Danny-Boy for editing that!

I was into numismatics back then, and things were the same as they are now. Just prices were higher because of spot.

In the back of my mind, I don't believe there were as many bullion coins on there but that may just have been down to the fact that they were not on my radar / wish list back then.

I have noticed a big drop-off of choice bullion on eBay recently. Standard and 2014 bullion but not a huge amount else to the levels there were 12 months ago.

PS, I edited the title for you CD, hope you don't mind.

Stacker since 2013

I only remember seeing maples as around that time I was only getting bits of US junk.

That said, I think it was common for sellers to list multiple auctions for single maples and withdraw the item if it didn't hit the 30+ range.

Maybe the way back machine can bring the old listings?

I remember rolls of eagles where feverishly bought up,my budget would only let me buy singles, there must be some one out there with an horrendous average.Unless they have kept buying rolls at today's prices and brought it down.

I remember scrounging money together as fast as i could to try and ride this gravy train i thought i was on.

Was it relay 2011 where the hell did that go, God i am getting old quick.

Edit; i even went through the 3 piece suite, the car and the tumble filter to get the last bit of cash for one ounce of silver at one point, that's how addictive it can become.I thought i need to buy as much as i could before it go's out of my reach,i don't think i even wanted to sell it at that point it was shiny and real treasure, a Gollem moment i suppose.

Maples were the most common coin on eBay in 2011. I bought a couple at £36 each! And that was in a bidding war. Thankfully it was only a few. Would've hated to have bought hundreds at that price.
