Personally I think this is a ugly coin but is it worth the buy?

I've got a couple, and they have grown on me, think they are worth it and may well have a better return than the ASE. If they are the start of something all the better.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, ....as they say (whoever 'they' are?)

To me, this is the ugliest coin ever struck (well, that I own anyway) but someone has one listed on eBay for £8500 ?

I'd struggle to bring myself to buy 'em even at spot, but YMMV.

I know I like to say that it's all just silver, but when you can get a Kangaroo or Philharmonic for another 20-30p/oz or whatever the markup is then that is what I would rather be doing.

Hello,

I have started a weekly silver order board, I intend to expand my range over time. All coins come from tubes as I only buy from tubes. I do have pics for bulk sales and all coins are mix and match. This is aimed more at people who buy small amounts.

Cheers

Shaun

Get in on BYB's order if you are doing small amounts like that. The postage will kill your average otherwise.

The owls, I had the same dilemma as you and so just bought a couple in with a larger order from GS.be to test them, they are OK but I prefer to waste money on Britannia's. Perhaps buy a selection of coins to see if you like them and take it from there.

I really like the owls. They are most of the time also cheaper then a Maple Leaf, just to name one. In fact it's the cheapest 1OZ bullion silver coin as far as i know. You only have to keep in mind that a lot of these coins have damage and / or black spots. If it's just for stacking they are great...

I love the athenian owl, its on my "to buy" list, and has a story behind it too. I don't actually have any just yet but I'm in no rush to buy as I expect they will be around at good prices for some time.

Eventually I'm just gonna melt them down and turn them into something with my Mark and twist on things

I've got 40 of them. Who cares what they look like!  It's just silver! I've only looked at them when I checked the order and I will look at them again when I sell them one day.

I got a few of them in BYB's Group Order, along with a selection of other bullion coins to see which ones I fancied buying in bulk later on.

I bought them thinking they would be fugly silver-is-silver, but I've grown to admire them now that I have some in hand.

I like them way more than Maples, and more than Kangaroos. About the same as Phils. But I like Britannia more.

If that's the case then i ask myself why you should even care how they look in the first place? ;)

I was going to order some of these in BYB's group order but went for 1oz Kookaburra's and 2oz Queens Beast instead.

May be tempted next time just in case they become desirable one day, if not they are still silver !!

Something pretty for the meantime lol

They look like they got beer goggles on anyway.  I wouldn't melt them , you can prolly get better value in deals with spotted , scuffed coins more suitable to recreate. And who wants the rspb on their case?
