  1. I use St James safe Deposit in Manchester. They are good! (in my opinion). As mentioned they also have a location in Leeds
  2. I agree Paul wholeheartedly. When you realise everything you thought was true is a lie, at least this is the conclusion I came to sometime ago. Although the past four years have been a huge eye opener even for me. Central bank digital currencies (programmable) and we are screwed.
  3. Very interesting thread! Yep, I have the same problem with one of my 2017 Proof Sovereigns (in safety deposit box, so can not take photo). I had assumed it was copper toning/tarnishing. It does beg the questioned, If you have a coin which has been graded, and then this happens over time?
  4. Perhaps poor choice of words on my part! There were a couple of bits of frosting missing on the nose and eye area of Charles II - very noticeable, in a prominent area. I can assure you it would not be classed as a mint error! Unfortunately I did not take any photos, but thanks for your comments. Hopefully I get a good replacement set. Noticed you have ordered a set. They really are lovely coins, hope yours is a good one!
  5. Received my 2 ounce silver yesterday. Agree, I think they are beautiful coins in hand! Only had time to have a brief look, unfortunately they need to be returned, large section of frosting missing on one of the coins, clearly visible (and I mean clearly) without a loupe. Hope I can get a good replacement. Really disappointing! With the exception of this series, stopped purchasing silver proof coins from the mint last year because of poor quality control.
  6. Managed to get the 2 ounce silver - easy compared to my previous experiences! Just to let you know Chards have the silver 2 ounce for sale at issue price. Coin Connection sold out
  7. Likewise I noticed this when I received my set. I sure hope it is a mistake and they have missed it off!
  8. Received my 5 coin set and a single Sovereign from the Royal Mint yesterday. Had a good look this morning - Wow! I think I have been one of the lucky ones (had problems like everyone with quality control in the past). Apart from some minor frosting issues on the double and quarter, they seem as perfect as can be. The Quintuple in hand looks perfect, don't think photos can do it justice, an amazing coin (in my opinion). Feel privileged to own this the Jubilee 5 coin set. The package from the Mint was excellent, so credit where credit is due! Sorry for those who have had issue, hopefully you get things sorted Cheers.
  9. Yep, it's called Bitcoin!
  10. Many thanks! Thanks for your comments. Yep, I am fully aware there are risks involved, nothing is risk free!
  11. Presently looking at a Safe Deposit Box for storage, and likewise I am based in Manchester, so will look at St James. Thanks for the info! Do you think it is wise to also take out Safe Deposit Box insurance? On their website they refer to a specialist company dealing in such insurance - Ellerton Knight?
  12. I think this is a plain edge, as per the photo and the description But,does not mention this in the heading description, someone got a bargain? wish I had £12000
  13. Thanks for your replies. They sure could be cornflakes! Will purchase a camera blower, let's hope I can get the capsule off. As people have mentioned before these capsules are not good. Cheers.
  14. Received my replacement 2 ounce silver proof Gothic Crown Portrait yesterday. No scratches, dings, missing frosting! However, there is some debris on the coin. I have given it a gentle rattle, but does not move. Don't feel that confident in opening the capsule and trying to remove it, what do you think? Not sure what the debris is?
  15. Yep, as you say Lawrence, at the time you were charging a little over bullion (if I remember correctly). I purchased one, very nice coin. Wish I had got more of them at those prices!!
  16. You do not receive an email if the order was placed over the phone. Hope that helps! I like the coin, but like many, with the odd exception I am giving the RM modern proof coins a miss.
  17. I think you are correct in what you say! Other than this series, I no longer buy silver proof coins. As I had no chance (like most) of purchasing the gold at retail price from the mint, I am prepared to take a chance with these in silver. Received my 2 ounce silver today, and it seems good to me. Think I have been lucky compared to some! Your two gold coins look great, congratulations!
  18. So, do we know with any certainty if any remaining Gothic Crown Portraits, are going on general sale at the Royal Mint on Monday Morning? Not sure if this has already been answered!
  19. I was lucky this time and picked up one of these beauties, amazing coin, can't wait for the set to be completed in March! I know how you feel. I missed out on the 3 graces in Feb. As much as you feel happy for everyone else, it does not help. Also, I was one of those who had to accept a refund on the Queens Beasts 2 oz silver proof 10 coin set, very disappointing! However, you just have to move on quickly, part of being a collector. It is as it is!!
  20. Yep, my 2 oz silver has been completed and should arrive tomorrow! Feel very lucky. Like many I was not moving on the website. Waited around one hour on the phone, and managed to get one (and portrait in March). I just hope everything is fine when it arrives!
  21. I managed to get through on the phone around 10.30 and purchase the 2oz silver set. Not received confirmation email. Just been able to finally get on the website and not appearing on my account? A little worried! Never ordered by phone before
