Steetips is the man, BUT cells need nitric and as mentioned above silver nitrate to buy (rather than make) is unfeasible expensive

Ozonthebounce got a reaction from Bigmarc in Silver refining
Hello All,
I hope this topic is allowed and of interest to people. A simple question to start, is anyone refining silver themselves?
Yes there is a wealth of information out there on youtube and other less friendly forums, HOWEVER, the little old UK gets very overlooked. I know this is all to do with the acid you 'need' being nitric. Getting the home licence is the obvious route and may be worth a separate conversion ( I have some insight in that). But to roll round to my previous point is there anyone doing it and anyone doing it in a way without nitric at all?
Yes nitric can be made, again so much out there on that, but this is also illegal.
So just wondered if there any artisan refiners here?

I'm not sure any refining makes economic sense and is just a hobby unless it's done on an industrial scale. Wanted to try a cell just for the art of it.

I think it's to difficult to is this country, need to go to the land of the free for that one.
I did fancy making a silver cell once but only because it looks nice. Not sure there is any financial benefit from refining.

I take em back behind the ol barn, set em down on the ol stump, and put em out of service for good with a single shell of the ol double ott buck...
Then I go inside and have a good cry for about 40 minutes while I drink a whiskey and think about all the good times we shared.
