I hope this link works, talks about the "1966 gold confiscation" I remember hearing Mr Chard talk about it on one of BYB videos.

There is no CGT on UK mintted coins.. It would be worth noting that there may be new forms of taxation in the future, just saying if the government think there is money in it they may introduce it. The government is more likely to tax your gold than confiscate it.

Tickety reacted to SilverJacks in Why are gold prices dropping?
Sovereigns spring straight to mind. They are so popular. Many people want them as bullion and want to pay as close to spot as possible. Then there are numismatic sovereigns that you could spend a lifetime learning about.
The majority of TSF members will have a greater level of experience than myself when asking which coins to go for. But still, I'd say go with something that appeals to you and decide whether you just want bullion or maybe something that carries a collectors/numismatic premium. Always study the market value and try to get it at a reasonable price, at any given time (pretty sure you already know that).
If you find something particular, you could put a "wanted" post in the trade section. Also, beware, you can become attached to some items, making it difficult to part with them when necessary or as intended.
The QB coins you bought, being 2021, I assume these were the completer coins? In which case, excellent choice. The completer is only slightly higher price than say a Britannia or other such 1oz gold coin, but has the potential to be quite sought after in future.

Quite scuffed (doesn't look so bad in natural light to the naked eye) but was very close to spot and had the advantage of picking it up locally.

Perth lunar s3 ox, 0.5, 1 and 2 oz. Probably a bit marmite - but I like marmite! 6 coins down, 30 to go... might have to think about some nice boxes for them.
