May want to put a bit more detail about the set to inspire buyers. Whats the story, what are the dates on the coin represent?
Mintage? Number of coins? Weight per coin? Total silver content? GLWS.

I love all circulated silver coins. All of them has plenty of stories to tell. They seen the previous times, participated active at history, been in dirty hands or in silver purses, seen live the high life and the povetry, been exchanged or stolen, kept in pockets or between tits, paid for food, drinks, goods or guilty pleasures.... Just I can't stop collecting them!
The modern BU coins .999 are only pieces of cold metal, no tales to tell from tubes.

I assume you are referring to the Silver American Eagle.  1986 was the first year they minted the bullion coin.  The bullion coin was minted in Philadelphia, the proof coin was minted in San Fransisco.   The first time the coin was minted at West Point was in 1995.

If you want to save yourself tears and protect your investment buy CGT free gold or Bitcoin. You'll loose everything on silver lol. your 5-10 year plan will turn into 20+ year plan to try and just recoup your initial investment. 
My advice is buy gold or bitcoin if you want gains and to protect your wealth.

It's going to $2300 (+4% roughly from current price), nothing has changed since I said that a few weeks ago. The interesting thing is what happens this summer May-August/early September. If gold holds or increases during that period then it's time to celebrate if you hold a lot of gold. The question is whether to buy now at the ATH or risk waiting another few months for a possible dip that may never come, and won't come if the Fed cuts rates during that window, which they probably will. Volatility is the only certainty

Managed to get rid of Skeletor on this millennium USA 1/4 gold.  45 minutes scrubbing with acetone. Before and after images. Give @GoldDiggerDave a run for the money at conservation 😁

I dunno, the incuse Indians are superb. I remember seeing photos of them and thinking "not my cup of tea", then I saw one in the flesh and wow was I wrong!

No better looking pre 1933 gold coin exists imho.  Good luck with whatever you decide.

Just thought about giving an update on this topic. I went ahead with buying that US Mint box specifically for this damaged 1986 Proof ASE coin.

Could not be happier with the result.  


 


This box cost me 8€, but it was damn worth it in my opinion

Hello fellow stackers! I start off by wishing you all a great 2024.

I have one of those "good" problems to solve, which I would ask your opinion. 

Just this week I ordered 5 Bullion American Silver Eagles, since I am gradually completing a tube.
To my surprise, the dealer sent 4 bullion, plus one 1986 Proof Silver Eagle ("S" Mintage). However, this Proof coin came without the box or certificate. Probably that was why they sold it to me as a normal Bullion.

I would love to maximize the "collectible" value of this coin. What should I do?

He's asking £1600, which I think is a fair price, spot + 3% (inc. postage)
I've never bought pre-33 American coins before so I'm a little wary about parting with my money.
I've attached some pics that Shaun sent me. What do you think?
I would prefer a nicer example  & wouldn't mind paying more for a graded coin, but for the price, I'm tempted.

And most of them are super ulgy toned... I've never seen as beautiful toning on the crowns as the rainbow morgan dollars (and those are supposed to be natural)
